[AU] The Ashes of Zahran (Massive Updates 2-13-04)

Cool, I have been thinking about developing my own AU world (I am currently running a campaign in Jerad in the Diamond Throne), but I am not quite sure how I want to go about it. Do you have any more material about the world then you have presented here that you would be willing to share...

[AU] The Ashes of Zahran (Massive Updates 2-13-04)

Sounds good! So why did you decide to use your own world rather than the Diamond Throne? Jesse D.

The more I see (and hear) the more I like... The big issue is finding a post graduate job that pays enough to make living in the region viable. Oh well. Worse case scenario, I can always just stay here. :(

Hahaha! I had no clue. :) Actually, you want to get together for lunch this weekend? We can talk about some things re: your character too. Jesse D.

Well, I knew that. I was just wondering what major hurdles I would have to deal with if I had a mostly clean record. Jesse D.

How difficult is it to get security clearence? I haven't been arrested before and have never gotten anything else beyond a traffic ticket. Jesse D.

Hmmm..... What can you tell me about these "associations"? They seem to be more focused on people with degrees in the humanities and pure sciences. Jesse Dean

Well I am lawful neutral, so that should work out well. Well, I would prefer a lightly milder climate. The presence of ice storms implies that the climate is indeed a bit milder than in Orlando. We can talk in about 11 months if I end up over there. ;) If I come out there next...

Luckily I have a car (A nice little '99 Toyota Corolla) so thats not a big deal. :) And yeah, I was doing some price comparison research and it appears things are quite a bit more expensive in Washington DC. Since you seem to be somewhat familiar with Orlando, you are probably aware of the...

Actually, I am more in the "I see a few potential jobs I would like to apply for in the area and I want to see if living in the DC region would drive me insane" phase. So, no I haven't picked out a place to live yet. Though I was enraptured with looking through apartment ads for Arlington and...

I am currently attending school in the Orlando, Florida area and will be graduating by the end of the summer. I have been considering a number of job prospects that are in the Washington DC / Arlington area, and I was wondering if the esteemed posters on this board who live/have lived in those...

    Gamers and Live Journal

I am not really active here anymore but I do have a live journal with the user name tuerny. Everyone in my (and my friend's) D&D group also has a live journal and we have set up a community for our games at worldsoftuerny if anyone wants to check it out. Jesse Dean

As a DM, how open are you to allowing in or using d20 material?

I am running a campaign that is based almost entirely on d20 material. Namely AU. I generally refuse to admit core D&D material into my game, as it doesn't mesh very well with AU IMHO.

    Bringing about socio-religious change

Yeah, after discussing things with him further I discovered I misinterpreted some of his views. However, I think the general reaction would be the same. Thanks for the help. I will definitely be checking out your document.

    Bringing about socio-religious change

Can you give me an example of what sort of arguments the natives would use against him? AU lacks a good-evil mechanic, basically. There is no alignment system. I am running this campaign out of the playtest notes of a soon to be published setting. It has the concept of varna but not jati. The...

    Bringing about socio-religious change

Ah well, he really isn't that religious of a character. I pointed out to him that to bring down a socio-religious structure he will need a new one to replace it. He hasn't really responded to that yet.

    Bringing about socio-religious change

Hmmm, that is a very good point and some good advice. I was kind of thinking the same thing. He started talking about how the religion was evil and needed to be brought down, and I was trying to figure out how a single, foreign individual could actually do anything about it. Also, he doesn't...
