Player Characters are the rock stars of their world!

I had quite a bit of fun when the PCs were in a town where there was a joust going on. There were booths selling dolls of some of the players' old PCs. It really tripped them out.

    Book of Vile Darkness

Oh, come on. Just because it's printed on paper doesn't make it sacred. Did you have trouble with the people who used pages from the bible as rolling papers for party joints? I think the absolute best response to a review came from a composer (I don't remember which one): "Dear Sir, I am...

Player Characters are the rock stars of their world!

Dude!! You totally rule. That was the coolest thing I've read this month.

    Book of Vile Darkness

I don't think he's a bad writer. I'd say that even if I didn't like what he writes. Anyone who writes well enough to be published isn't a bad writer--they may be hacks, or they may have no talent, but they can at least turn out professional-quality prose. At least, that applies in most cases...

OT: Do you hate Telemarketters as much as I do?

One of my primary duties where I work is to answer phones. I've had some extremely rude callers, and I know exactly how emotionally taxing it is. And I still don't deviate from my position that the rude people are doing the world a valuable service. To explain: If YOU call me where I work...

The Gamer's Bag(TM) - Site Now Fully Up!

Dude! My only problem with that prospect is that (1) it sounds expensive, and (2) it doesn't seem like it would be healthy on your dice--unless you line the bags with something. How do you handle it? I have to know. =)

OT: Do you hate Telemarketters as much as I do?

The caller ID blocking isn't that much of a problem. If you have caller ID, set up your line to refuse blocked calls automatically. You still get blanks and "out of area," but you won't get "private caller" calls anymore. So when your relatives call, they learn to dial *82 (or whatever--it's...

ATTN WotC folks? How much can we use the iconics for our own purposes?

I'm *all* for that. It's worth having to see Krusk in a swimsuit if I get to see Alhandra and Lidda...

Ashardalon elements in the "adventure path" series?

Does anyone know offhand which modules in the series have the "dragon cult" elements? I have the first three, but of those, only "The Sunless Citadel" seems to fit. I know "Bastion of Broken Souls" and "Heart of Nightfang Spire" both deal with the dragon cult, but which of the others do?

Khan's Rule for Prostitution and D&D

You, too? You know, I actually *use* those encounter tables from the 1e DMG, too. I've had a lot of fun with nasty-ass crack hos aggressively trying to drum up business with the PCs.

Man, that table sucked. Not only was it not solely a "wandering hooker" table (it was actually a city encounter table), it didn't have stats for the hookers!! I want to know what the difference between a "brazen strumpet" and a "slovenly trull" are, gamewise!

    planescape conversion...

In case it helps, I once asked Monte Cook his opinion on converting the factions, and he said he'd do them as very short-term prestige classes (like 2-4 levels, at the most). Those 10-level prestige classes were completely outlandish, in my opinion. I'd certainly never use them. Then again, I...

    Marilith´s CR

Maybe they were assuming the creatures would be classed for a "real" encounter, like phaerimm and sharn (I refuse to use the stupid plural). Like Marilith Ftr4/Sor7 or Ultroloth Wiz17, or whatever. I know that doesn't solve the CR problem, but it might explain why they're so weak...

Do your characters have love interests?

Swashbuckling cards? How come I've never heard of these? Where can I find more information?

[ELH] Is the art in this book utter crap?

As a related thought, this is what the epic wizard should have looked like: A youngish fellow of unexceptional appearance, carrying no visible items, and seeming totally unremarkable in every way. Not all epic characters look "epic." In fact, I'd submit that most of them don't look epic...

[ELH] Is the art in this book utter crap?

I'm sorry, did you actually look at the *stats* for the paragon illithid? Or was it just me that was unimpressed?

    Lyrical Inspiration

I agree...lyrics work well as inspiration sometimes. My two favorites at the moment are both from Judas Priest--"Hard as Iron" and "One Shot at Glory."

    Book of Vile Darkness

I'd be quite amused to see a guide to "happy valley" in D&D terms, but didn't that already get covered by a netbook?

    One Year Ago

You know, I don't have anything to add, other than...I agree with those guys up there. It was a great site, impossibly well-managed, for a fan site. The only fan sites I can think of that rivaled Eric's in its heyday were Kargatane and Mimir. I was sorry to see it go, but I can certainly...

    Well?

I like the new style, but I think I'd like a mix of old and new better. Like, some editorial content, plus some bulleted lists. That would break things up and make it easier on the eyes. As it is, it looks a little too much like a gossip column--you know, the kind where all the celebrity...
