Looks more like some dodging ability used against a Manyshot type attack.

    D&D 5E (2014) On Orcish Grandmothers (=poor spells)

It's a 2nd level Ranged attack than makes the victim deal half damage on STR based attacks. But it's a Con Save at the end of each victim's rounds. Also it's Concentration.

    D&D 5E (2014) On Orcish Grandmothers (=poor spells)

Yeah, it's situational, but if an enemy group all of a sudden decide to Kill the Mage and they know to grapple you if you try dodging, it can be worth a shot, especially if keeping the foe's attention makes things easier on the rest of the party.

    D&D 5E (2014) On Orcish Grandmothers (=poor spells)

Dodge can be shut off by grapple. Once enemy density gets high, one just grabs you and shuts off your dodge.

    Fifth Edition Foes Monster Book

Yeah, this was exactly what i was worried about, having to Re-CR a lot of foes. I kinda like how MM spiders' venom worked, it had to go through your HP to paralyze you, the Areana's venom is wonky in 5E.

    D&D 5E (2014) Fireball vs Flame Strike

    I'll fork that idea!

D&D 5E (2014) Who would want to see rule books annotated with developer quotes on the system's mechanics?

That would be a fun read. Do we have any compiling of Dev’s quotes to try and build a rough Companion Pamphlet?

D&D 5E (2014) What is my best bet for some cheap, decent miniatures?

Reaper mini also has a line of prepainted plastics, but note that the price point is higher than other prepaints because they are non random so they don't have HIGH cost rares making commons more plentiful (cheaper). http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/LegendaryEncounters 'Sadly' the success...

D&D 5E (2014) What is my best bet for some cheap, decent miniatures?

Prepainted plastic D&D Minis and Pathfinder Battles Miniatures are sold all over the internet. Miniatures Market is a seller with LOTS of options. Can you rebase a figure? That at least opens up Heroclix, Horrorclix & Mageknight figures, which are also prepainted. Post some stuff you painted...

D&D 5E (2014) Passive perception Yay or Nay?

I think I can get behind traps using Passive stealth vs players using active perception rolls.

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Well, for some folks they know this backs up the DMs who want to keep players to the PHB. Saying flat out no to a general book of options is a lot harder to justify to a group of relative equals than saying no to an option from an adventure the DM isn't running. For folks in organized play...

    D&D 5E (2014) Which non-Realmsian setting for you?

Dark Sun. Get the Psionics rules in for those who want them. I LOVE Mystara, but unless we are getting the Immortal rules, The 5E ruleset kinda has enough to get done what needs doing for a Mystara setting. And if we ARE getting Immortals rules, then it should be the last rules the edition sees...

D&D 5E (2014) Passive perception Yay or Nay?

If there wasn't passive perception, each character would be rolling perception automatically whenever a hidden creature was around, as in 3E*. That is how the passive perception system makes stealth more viable. Spotters are forced to "take 10" unless devoting an action to find something.

D&D 5E (2014) DMs - How often to wild surge?

If get a wild mage at my table, they will be rolling as often as possible.

    D&D 5E (2014) Pushing & occupied spaces.

How are folks handling effects that push when there isn't open space for targets to go to or the path is blocked by other creatures? No where to go, no push? No where to go, go prone? Get squeezed* into smaller area? *squeezing doesn't really do much when it comes to medium since Medium and...

D&D 5E (2014) A contradiction in spell scroll entries in the DMG?

Bringing in assumptions from previous editions is going to cause confusion for lots of things. The only problem is if the devs didn't make it expressly clear to DM. Or maybe if the casters are being selfish jerks. Fighter: Here take this, Morthos, this paper looks like its probably magical. I...

D&D 5E (2014) So do enough monsters have ranged attacks this editon?

Who said that? I would have just liked to have seen it a few times. Especially on the Glabrazu, who's kinda been the caster type demon. Also I kinda think it would have been neat on the succubus, since I'm a Diablo fan, but their super charm seem nice and dangerous enough in the right situation...

D&D 5E (2014) Bonus action and reaction spell - rules advice from WotC contradicting each other

Turn = a character's turn Round = whole cycle of everyone's turns Thus rogues sneak attack once per turn lets them sneak damage on their turn, then get it again on someone else's turn, provided a reaction lets it happen. You should be able swift spell, Cantrip on your turn, then later throw...
