    D&D 5E (2014) DM: overwhelmed with creatures

Oh no, I in no way advocate changing monster HP after it is on the field.

    D&D 5E (2014) DM: overwhelmed with creatures

Possible range from the listed HD in the monster manual is often far wider than the range on the DMG CR table. Example; MM Average hill giant has 105 HP ( 10d12+40 ), putinging it's HP at the DMG tier of CR 3 which has a spread of 101 HP to 115 HP. So if you are putting half a dozen hill...

    D&D 5E (2014) DM: overwhelmed with creatures

Neither. The person looking in the DMG would be the DM, the table lets them know how much wiggle room the monster's HP total would have for the purpose of adjusting said monster's HP prior to deployment while still falling within the general parameters of it's CR tier. Because when you get down...

    D&D 5E (2014) DM: overwhelmed with creatures

I find the players VERY proactive in reminding me just how much damage the monsters have taken when they are keeping count on the damage. Also by looking at the HP ranges for monsters in the DMG CRing table, it lets you know how much wiggle room the HP total for a monster has.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wand of the War Mage +1

I'd say it's fine since few other spells give one so many choices for what energy to deal.

    D&D 5E (2014) High-level no-save spells in practice

Right, the tarrasque has a 20'x20' base / face / space, but that doesn't mean it fits in a Forcecage. MM clearly calls out it's 50' tall and 70' long.

    D&D 5E (2014) High-level no-save spells in practice

I just run them and if the players don't use their area effect capacity, lots of table time gets used up.

    D&D 5E (2014) High-level no-save spells in practice

I just removed Forcecage from my game. Plenty of other spells for players to take. Might do the same with True Polymorph, though that one would need a replacement.

D&D 5E (2014) Anyone understand the licensing issues surrounding FGG's 5th Edition products?

Unfortunately they out and out said they deigned the monsters to punch above their weight class so every CR is suspect.

    D&D 5E (2014) Detect magic and Gargolye

Not at all. There's a low level spell for hiding auras that become permanent if you have a month to keep casting it.

D&D 5E (2014) Witch Bolt and Elemental Affinity

Oops, just noticed the Homemade spell ws using multi-shots, not a damage increase.

D&D 5E (2014) Witch Bolt and Elemental Affinity

I don't think thats a good argument since a Draconic Fire Sorcerer has Firebolt.

MOUNTED HEROES - Mount Your Character Mini On A Horse, Griffin, or Dragon

The sample mounts' design seems unconcerned for the amount of table space they take up. At this price they should have at least made the bigger mounts in positions so the buyer could more readily use the base size they want rather than just assuming WFB basing standards that may be changing...

D&D 5E (2014) Witch Bolt and Elemental Affinity

I'm not sure that much of a loss of damage or range potential is merited compared to Fire bolt. Shocking grasp's extra affects are actually quite potent for those who can make use of it. So I don't think a lightning ranged catrip that doesn't have those needs to deal less than a d8 even if it...

D&D 5E (2014) Stink of the City and other unpleasentries, do you pay attention to them?

Yeah, I think most druids are going to know better than to be allowing humans to grow enough food to keep up with their desired population growth. And just because the gods' mental cage of morality will label them as evil, that won't stop practical druids from demanding human sacrifice for a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Attacking with a warhorse

BTW don't forget if your mount is acting independently, that means you are on a separate initiative tick, which means you are likely using the very punitive Ready system of 5E as your mount won't be moving toward your foes at the same time you are wanting to take your attacks. I'd probably let...

    Console owners: XBone or PS4?

Term became the go to for the system after Microsoft's boneheaded plans for the system when they were announcing it. Always online DRM did not go over so well. Sounds like an Orwellian nightmare to have a machine in my house constantly monitoring what is said. Oh, wait, you live in London don't...

this is what kids are watching?

Well, magic in a way. Why he's magically stretchy winds up being veeery worrisome after the it gets explained. Loved the ep where this art gets a reference. BTW, When a show airs in the evening on a cable network, even if it's animated, don't expect it to be for kids of all ages.
