Does it take longer to gain levels at higher levels?

Just like in 5E, old school players should WANT to seek out powerful enemies with potent abilities to prove their worth. Fighting bandits too often means you get chump change XP for your tabletime.

D&D 5E (2014) At higher levels, encounter building guidelines don't matter.

Numbers multiplier matters more if there isn't terrain so players can reduce frontage or funnel foes. In a white room it can be an issue.

    D&D 5E (2014) Custom Monster HPs

Round pegs and square holes can be an issue. Ogre hits hard enough were it really won't be a good for for CR 1 since he's likely to live long enough to SPLAT. Also at the lower levels ever point to hit matters more, even though it's 2/1 in the monster rules. Notice how several monsters at cr 1/4...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sprite familiar firing sleep-needles every round?

I'd rule the sprite has limited number of sleep arrows, with downtime needed to replenish them. I'd be inclined to be generous but there would definitely be limits.

D&D 5E (2014) Can a wood elf hide in dim light?

If you have walls and trees, you don't need anything else. This is about the elf disappearing in low light.

D&D 5E (2014) Do Push effects work on ( thus dismount ) riders?

Just curious about this one. Do Push effects work on ( thus dismount ) riders? Mount rules are kinda light and was wondering on other folk's opinions. Edit: The Basic rules and PHB account for the mount being pushed and proned, and the rider being proned, yet the rider getting pushed was a...

Pathfinder 1E Grab and Constrict with multiple attacks

Unless the target has armor already capping it's dex, the victim's reduced dex balances out the -2 to hit from being grappled.

Slave Pits of the Undercity - your experiences?

And man some areas are just a cluster-f, the Orc's area from A1's sewers, especially the non tourney sections are wall to wall orcs in spots and i'm not sure if the Stables (7a) in A2 have enough room for the stable hands, let alone the wagons after the baker's dozen horses and half a dozen...

Slave Pits of the Undercity - your experiences?

Been running A1 in 5E. I must say I was disappointed with the ghoul's performance for their CR, but paralyzing foes generally are generally all or nothing. Swapped the giant Sundew for a cluster of semi intelligent mimics acting as gatekeepers for their area, which made for a delightfully brutal...

Slave Pits of the Undercity - your experiences?

How important is A4 to the rest of the modules? If running the modules as part of a campaign, would it be feasible to keep A4 as a reserve IF the party gets defeated?

Why Is Chris Perkins Tweeting Page Snippets Of Mongrelfolk?

Thank goodness, Half-orcs, Gensai, Mini-taurs, Dragonborn and Tieflings are enough of a freakshow already.

Unearthed Arcana Waterborne Adventures: New from Unearthed Arcana

The minotaur gets some SOLID combat applicable tricks to make up for that. Horns as a bonus attack when dashing and having a Push type shove as a bonus action all other times, with advantage on all shoves.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts Regarding the Number of Attuned Items

No less than an epic boon should get another attunement slot.

    D&D 5E (2014) Spell Research help

I'd agree with your DM on the necro, If a character is described as going out like he does, not much is going to be left on the guy. Most casters you'll face won't have spellbooks as that's a wizard thing and wizards tend to be intelligent and not throw themselves into combat. Clerics...

D&D 5E (2014) Limiting the Number of Weapon Proficiencies by Class

Unless you plan on conspicuously custom loot, limiting players further on weapon choices makes players start expecting magic items tailored for them rather than just being grateful to find a magic weapon. It is a similar problem with Feats, Player focuses on X weapon or weapon style and then...

Anyone else mark the monster population ON a copy of the dungeon map when preparing?

If you are running an old module, the Comic map walkthroughs WOTC has commissioned from Jason Thompson can be used for this purpose. http://archive.wizards.com/dnd/images/map_a1walkthrough.jpg http://archive.wizards.com/DnD/Article.aspx?x=dnd/toon/A1

Boots of Striding and Springing got nerfed bad

Yeah. Can you image how the 3E gamers would have reacted if the 5E concentration mechanic had been implemented in 3.5.
