    D&D 4E Former 4E doubter , I have high hopes now

    That's my position right now. I'm a bit skeptical about Bo9S style powers for fighters, and quicker level advancement, but most of the other changes look good. Plus, with Necromancer and Goodman in the 4th edition market, I'm very optimistic.

    If I remember my Lord of the Rings correctly, halfling is what humans called hobbits. It is mentioned once in Bree (IIRC).

    Hairfoot halflings are hobbits. Tallfellow halflings are 4th edition halflings, and lightfoot? halflings are 3rd edition halflings. I'm not sure what to do with Stouts, though.

    He knows which game he prefers, just as you know which game you prefer. What's wrong with that? I prefer GURPS, but I do like playing D&D (any edition).

    Yes, I have played gnome characters. My longest running character in 2nd edition was a gnome (Ralard Coppertongue - Gnome Thief/Illusionist 7/7). I think gnomes have a lot to define them as a race, and I think they have as much a place in fantasy games as elves.
