    So, about those halflings...

    That's cool too.

    So, about those halflings...

I like both of them. That's why I use 2nd edition Hairfoot halflings as the classic Tolkien hobbits, and the Tallfellow halflings as 3rd edition halflings. I never did like Stouts, though. I like all versions of gnomes except for Tinker gnomes. I think having variations like the 2nd edition...

    C&C in Dalton, GA

I do play other games. If anyone is looking for gamers in Dalton Georgia, I am looking for a group.

Must you have and use every book for D&D

Same here. I bought the first 4 complete books and I only use 2 feats from Complete Warrior. I buy the books mainly to read. If I can use them in a game, it is a bonus. With my current financial situation, however, I am unlikely to be able to continue this practice.

Gnomes - Where will they appear first?

What I want to know about 4th edition is this. Which print product will have gnomes in it? Don't mention the Digital Initiative, because that is not an option for me. Edit - Rather, it is an option, but is one I've rejected.

Dungeon Tiles 5 Underdark (with pictures)

Set 4 (Ruins of the Wild) was a good set for outdoor tiles. If you want more outdoor stuff, I suggest the Countryside tiles from Paizo, or their Forest Path flip mat.

    Load me up with Eberron!

I have : the Eberron Campaign Setting Sharn: City of Towers Faiths of Eberron Secrets of Xen'drick I would recommend all of them (though you could get by without Faiths of Eberron, but it has lots of information about the religions. I have found it tremendously useful.) I plan on getting...

    Why bother with Vanilla?

Some brands of vanilla taste better than others. For example: Bryers makes the best vanilla ice cream. On a campaign setting note, I like Greyhawk. I don't like Forgotten Realms. Some people would consider both settings as vanilla D&D (which I don't, by the way). If you like a setting...

    D&D 3.x 3E publishers and 4E: Who's in, who's out?

Green Ronin has True20. I'm not sure if they will continue with D&D products after 4th edition. Mongoose has switched to RuneQuest (and now Traveller). Goodman Games will support both 4th edition and Castles and Crusades (and I imagine they will continue producing a few 1rst edition modules...

If they aren't playing playtest games, then how do they know that the rules work properly? They only have until next may...

    Castle Smoulderthorn, Part 3

Playtesting is supposed to check to make sure the core rules (and races and classes) work as intended. Using non-standard races and classes in this playtest makes it not terribly useful for its intended purpose.

I don't like the Warblade and the Crusader.

    Bo9S

They Might Be Giants are awesome. On another note, I haven't found fighters to be weaker than any of the other core classes. Perhaps the problems begin when you bring in classes from other books (also note that I have more books than anyone else in my gaming group, but I haven't had an...

    Bo9S

I didn't like the Book of 9 Swords at all. This is one of the things that makes me wary of getting 4th edition.

    Alternity - from TSR

Dark Matter is probably the best X-Files type game ever, and Star Drive is the best Sci-Fi setting outside of Star Frontiers (my opinion, of course). Alternity Gamma World is my favorite rule-set for that setting (and it is self-contained, so you don't need the other rule-books for it). The...

What's your runner up D&D setting?

Favorite Setting: Greyhawk Runner Up: Eberron Although recently I picked up the books from the 1st edition Forgotten Realms boxed set, and they are really cool. It's a shame that 2nd edition and later Forgotten Realms seem to suck all the fun out of the setting. Other favorites: Pathfinder...
