As someone who had a lot of fun in 2nd edition AD&D, and who also likes GURPS and D&D 3rd edition, I will say that they all have their strong-points and weak-points.

If they didn't lie so much, we might take them at their word. Respect is something that has to be earned. In my opinion, they haven't earned it.

Just because 4th edition will be out by then doesn't mean you can't still play this. Just hold off on converting until your group has finished this. My 2nd edition group played for quite a while before converting to 3rd edition.

I have always liked gnomes. I will miss them if they aren't in 4th edition. I'm guessing they will be included in the Eberron Campaign book, since they are rather important to the setting.
