    D&D 5E (2014) Live Streaming Slavelords - 7/19/2013

Fair enough! Well, I certainly agreed with your assessment of what they are doing and going to do with the play test material. I read an interesting comment from another game company doing a play test saying they just didn't want to make it public because they don't believe they get as good...

    D&D 5E (2014) Live Streaming Slavelords - 7/19/2013

How do you know them (any better than anyone else who doesn't work for them)? Yeah, this wouldn't surprise me at all.

D&D 5E (2014) House Rules for DnD Next

Oh yes, that +1 to all abilities for humans is horrendous. At most I'd give +1 to one ability of choice.

D&D 5E (2014) House Rules for DnD Next

I know it's a play test, but are people playing DnD Next with their own house rules? If so, what rules changes are you making? The first thing I would change from the latest packet is skills: I'd make the skill dice progression start at d4, and I'd let characters get a new skill every second...

    D&D 5E (2014) Two things I like about D&DNext

Haven't looked at Next for a while and I'm enjoying this thread (thanks OP!). But I wouldn't mind if people also listed two things they really dislike about Next (that is, a balanced reply with 2 likes and 2 dislikes).

    D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Packet Is Available

I've never liked the d20 either...but I have learned to accept it when playing (whatever version of) D&D. Interesting...how does your d6 system work? Sounds simple :) (very happy playing B/X, shows my age). Yeah, it all looks pretty fun to me, and that's my main criteria. If I run into...

    D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Packet Is Available

The lone island of positivity in a sea of miserable whinging ;) I too am looking forward to playing this packet. Did you get through the rest? Did you find anything you didn't like?

Is 13th Age stealing dnd next's thunder?

I can see the obvious indie elements in 13th Age but the core system seems pretty hard core D&D (of one flavour or another) to me. I think it rocks and am about to start a Mystara campaign (starting with Night's Dark Terror) using the rules - and I hope it's a long lasting campaign! I'd have...

My 13th age druid. If anyone has the escalation edition...

Thanks, I'll show this to my players (but can't start before January anyway). The official Druid won't turn up until the 13 True Ways expansion right?

    We're Back! Let's Discuss This Week's Stuff!

They've confused themselves. Are you talking about the +2 to any ability and the +1 to *all* other ability scores? I keep looking at that and thinking, "yeah, that can't be right" (yeah I know, it's still in playtest...) Sounds good.

D&D 5E (2014) next playtest packet due when?

Heh, good suggestion, or in fact, one first week of December and an update just before Christmas :D

D&D 5E (2014) next playtest packet due when?

Sorry if I've missed this, but has anyone from WotC said, or suggested, when the next D&D Next might be? Thanks.

Bruce Heard + Mystara + Kickstarter [Hypothetical + Cross Post]

Which are the D&D products you mean - those big boxed sets from the mid 90s? Thunder Rift? Up until 93 seemed pretty good - Wrath of the Immortals and Champions of Mystara. Although I only managed to pick those up in the last few years.

Bruce Heard + Mystara + Kickstarter [Hypothetical + Cross Post]

So this is a cross post from rpg.net (hope that's ok). Basically I started wondering simply how much money could Bruce Heard raise on Kickstarter to work on new Mystara/Known World (Original/BECMI D&D) products? Of course he can't actually do this because WotC own all the copyrights...so this...

    D&D 5E (2014) *Finally* read playtest 2 - 2d10 time!

You mean as an option any time they want it? Interesting. You could extend this and offer 3d6 instead of d20. *Much* more likely to be around the middle, but *impossible* to get 20 (or 1). Thanks for the suggestion! B-)

    D&D 5E (2014) *Finally* read playtest 2 - 2d10 time!

Very impressive! Thanks B-) So from these results, and slobo777's calcs in the previous post, I think I'll use 2d10 for skill checks and d20 (RaW) for combat – guess you can say combat is more stressful therefore the swinginess of d20 is appropriate (if you even need a justification). The...

    D&D 5E (2014) *Finally* read playtest 2 - 2d10 time!

You're definitely correct, and as one posted said earlier, it would be really interesting for them to *design* it in and offer it as an option (obviously it won't happen). Will post about how it goes (a couple of weeks away though unfortunately) - probably try a few variations and see what we...

    D&D 5E (2014) *Finally* read playtest 2 - 2d10 time!

Definitely do it! Thanks...so maybe the solution is keep d20 for combat and just use 2d10 for skills.

<facepalm> Yeah, obvious, should have thought of that! Thanks B-)
