DM's Guild: What Do The Customers Think?

Aaah... so I see! Thanks for the heads up. That's much better than I thought, although I'd still make the argument that it's not super intuitive. Hopefully the navigation and layout gets tweaked as the website moves forward.

    Spellbook Cards

4 out of 5 rating for Spellbook Cards The first run of these cards definitely hurt the overall score, which is dragging lower than the most recent printing warrants. Previous complaints have been fixed: Version 2 has rounded edges and a symbol to identify concentration spells. They do their...

DM's Guild: What Do The Customers Think?

The biggest issue for me (so far) is storefront navigation and the way in which product lists are sorted. For example, I haven't been able to see a way to just search for adventures. This seems pretty fundamental. (Is there a way to do this that I'm just missing somehow?) In regards to the way...

D&D 5E (2014) Your Top 3 Pieces of Art in the Monster Manual

Ooooo... gnoll and merrow are another two of my favourites. I couldn't have even told you what a merrow was before 5th, but that painting is just awesome.

D&D 5E (2014) Your Top 3 Pieces of Art in the Monster Manual

Agree that the Yugoloth art is great. Double-agree that artist attributions should have been included with each picture so you could see who's work it is.

Kopru from the Isle of Dread! I love those guys...

D&D 5E (2014) Your Top 3 Pieces of Art in the Monster Manual

The 5th ed. Monster Manual is a book that just works for me. It's fun to flip through it, then stop to read entries that catch your eye. Naturally, a big part of that is the artwork. Now, while I do find some of the art distinctly "meh," there is a ton of great stuff in there. At the very...

D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins is polling settings on Twitter!

Even as someone who voted for Dark Sun, I'm not sure if I'd call a 1% lead "winning." ;) However, I definitely agree that the setting has unique needs, and I expect that this is something that Wizards is keenly aware of. When you say that an adventure *must* get released alongside a Dark Sun...

D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins is polling settings on Twitter!

I agree with your points on why Dark Sun would be a good choice to roll out, though I doubt that Wizards would. I think that their list of publishing priorities starts and stops with "will it sell?" (That said, I think that Dark Sun is interesting, and I think it would sell... but I'll freely...

D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins is polling settings on Twitter!

Yeah, I seem to remember them asking about settings in a survey not too long ago? (Or am I making that up?) This feels like something Perkins did on a lark to compare against their existing data. As you said, the most notable thing about it might be Planescape's conspicuous absence.

D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins is polling settings on Twitter!

It's an interesting omission: almost strange considering Chris Perkins' design background with Planescape. He's even tweeted that it would be his first pick for a setting to bring back in 5th! https://twitter.com/ChrisPerkinsDnD/status/623187432431751168 Speculation? Planescape is already in...

D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins is polling settings on Twitter!

Fair enough! It'd be cool to see more of Wizards internal polling to check out the relative size of each age category who completes the online surveys. And how many folks are new to D&D, versus players who have made the jump from previous editions. Then again, to look at it as accurately...

D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins is polling settings on Twitter!

Interesting to compare the two. The first thing the jumps out (for me, at least) is the high number of votes for Greyhawk relative to the Perkins' poll. Makes me believe that the EN World perspective would be quite "grognard-skewed" when compared to the total pool of D&D players.

    D&D 5E (2014) We need a Monster Manual II

A question that Mike Mearls asked on Twitter a couple days ago makes me think that a new Monster Manual is at least in the planning stages... "Hello Dungeon Masters of the world: Did we overlook any NPCs you need in appendix B of the Monster Manual? If so, what do you need?"

Unearthed Arcana One Year of Unearthed Arcana

Then they did put some finished UA rules in a published product - cool. I didn't take a deep look at SCAG (just not a setting that really resonates with me), but maybe I'll see if I can check it out. I'm curious about how much things were changed from the UA article.

Unearthed Arcana One Year of Unearthed Arcana

Unearthed Arcana has been running for over a year now (since Feb 2, 2015), and it's given us a ton of interesting articles - many of which I had started to forget about! I thought it would fun to go back and give a little consideration as to which articles worked for me, and which ones I would...

D&D 5E (2014) New survey is up, asks about the kits and about who you are

I agree it's clear that they were looking to provide a spell-less Ranger alternative, but they were so careful to try not to step on the Ranger's toes that there's nothing interesting about this kit. Each other kit had cool abilities or unique mechanics - the scout is so vanilla. It needs just...

D&D 5E (2014) New survey is up, asks about the kits and about who you are

Let's see... I was very positive about the introduction of kits. It seems like a natural way to introduce new mechanical character concepts. I see it as especially useful for bringing in new character-types from different campaign worlds, as you don't have to constantly keep adding new classes...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2016 February 5e Survey

The new survey is up. http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/2016-february-survey I gave quite a bit of feedback this time around (relative to the last survey, at least). The kits are definitely something I'd like to see more of. Edit: whoops - I totally missed the existing thread for...

D&D 5E (2014) Small tweaks to improve Out of the Abyss [DMs toolbox; SPOILERS]

Hey, Capn - sorry to have created another thread so similar to your own! I did a search to see if there was anything like this, but I missed your initial post somehow. Anyway, to recap the idea that I'd written elsewhere: put the pictures of the NPC prisoners on index cards and spread them out...
