    Overrated/Underrated Geek Media

I remember in 2005 when George A. Romero's "Land of the Dead" came out. In an interview, director Robert Rodriguez said, "It's been 35 years and people are still talking about Night of the Living Dead. No one is talking about The English Patient."

    Overrated/Underrated Geek Media

Underrated: Wizards and Warriors, a 1983 mid-season replacement on CBS that flopped (though it did win a Primetime Emmy for Best Costumes). I call this "geek media" because it was, according to show creator Don Reo, based in part on his kids' interest in Dungeons & Dragons. I'll eat my hat if...

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

Flying Buffalo used to ship their Tunnels & Trolls box sets to the UK sans dice. Seems a "box of books" incurred less taxes than a "game". But Flying Buffalo probably wasn't a good business role model, and this was all a very long time ago.

    Rebellion Acquires Tunnels & Trolls

Big announcement from Rebellion. As a huge fan of old T&T who was, and still is, skeptical of the proposed changes, this actially has me excited. https://rebellionunplugged.com/tunnels-and-trolls-is-coming-2025/

    Rebellion Acquires Tunnels & Trolls

April will mark the 50th Anniversary of Tunnels & Trolls. Of course, Rebellion's version will have changes. But they have said they'll offer some kind of conversion/compatibility, and third party support. I'm hoping they keep the back catalog available as well.

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

I used to work for a subsidiary of Sears decades ago. They rolled out an arbitration program. Said participation was mandatory, yada yada. Well, a friend of mine ended up getting terminated. She entered the arbitration process. I was called as a witness, and there was a team made up of...

He is also currently involved with Vox Day. Day publishes webcomics based on Macris' Ascendant RPG, has contributed to ACKS material in the past, and there is an ACKS/public domain Conan supplement planned, using material published by Day's Castalia House imprint as a basis...

    OSR Dragonslayer RPG truly delivers.

I'm of two minds about this. Personally, I appreciate retroclones. In fact, Swords & Wizardry Complete is my go-to for D&D-type gaming. So much so, in fact, that I haven't felt the need to upgrade to the revised edition. I figure that as long as I have S&W Complete, along with OSRIC for...

Ratemyprofessor seems like it'd be real easy to review bomb. This isn't something I just noticed with Gillespie, I've been aware of it for years. As such, I tend to look sideways at anything posted there. I thing the bigger issue for most is that Gillespie requires students to purchase a new...

There's also the possibility that a Musk-owned D&D would bring some of the worst creators and influencers on board.

This is also because much of the GOP is made up of "Seven Mountains" Dominionists, who are closer than ever to achieving their goals. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominion_theology#:~:text=The%20mandate%20proposes%20that%20there,religion%2C%20family%2C%20and%20business.

This is true, and something glossed over by Grognards who insist that D&D was always inclusive. In, what, July of 1980, The Dragon ran an article about the sexism faced by female gamers. This was a known issue even then. Another canard from the "old school" is that gaming wasn't political. But...
