    Accellerated XP and Treasure

But we _like_ levelling. ;) Seriously though, I see your point. It certainly would make designing the encounters a bit easier to deal with.

    Accellerated XP and Treasure

They're already level 7, been playing since last June (we play roughtly every 2 weeks). At this rate it'll be 2011 before the campaign ends...and that's with double XP. A fair point, but my counterpoint would be that there really isn't much difference level by level. That's an idea, but...

    Accellerated XP and Treasure

The ending of the campaign involves completing the Rod of Seven Parts and fighting Tiamat. Tough to do that if you're not Level 30.

    Accellerated XP and Treasure

I guess the next question is how critical it is to keep up with the treasure amounts. That'll be a lot of loot pretty rapidly. :-) I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing though.

    Accellerated XP and Treasure

I've already been doubling XP for our campaign, but I find that even with that it's taking too long to get through levels. I want to do a full 30 level campaign in a reasonable amount of time. So I decided when I want to end the campaign timewise, and it turns out that we'd need about 23...

    Attacks on subsequent rounds

An interesting question came up in our last session. The wizard used his staff of gathering (I think) to cast Freezing Cloud. In the subsequent round, a mummy entered the cloud and was subject to another attack. Does this attack occur with the same implement? The issue came up because the wizard...

Running the Well of Demons in Thunderspire Labrynth -Warning Spoilers!

My party got 3 failures right off the bat, so they didn't really get a lot of help...certainly made the combat longer since they thought they had to destroy all the traps in order to solve the room.

D&D 4E How to build encounters in 4e (aka Only you can prevent Grindspace!)

The party is largely made up of melee types. Warlord 2-weapon Ranger Rogue Paladin (now Swordmage) Warlock (who wasn't there last night) Wizard

D&D 4E How to build encounters in 4e (aka Only you can prevent Grindspace!)

Awesome thread. It in fact, convinced me to finally ditch the published modules and go with one of my own (with some liberal stealing of encounters from H3). The PC's hadn't fought much undead lately, so I sent them into a tomb on the way to find a second entrance to a shrine to Vecna taken...

    Creature Incarnations: Get'cher Brains Here!

I love the Creature Incarnations articles...and it just so happens my players are going to be heading into a tomb tonight. Heh heh heh...

What are the "must have" 4E supplements thus far?

I'd have to agree here. But with the specification on 'the first one'. I'm not sure I'll get the Adventurer's Vault II.

    Inspired Recovery

Is it just me or is this Warlord feat almost too good? I seem to have a lot of difficulty getting any sort of condition to last more than a round, if that, against my PC's.

    Rules on interrupts of movement

A PC has a power that as an immediate interrupt, with the trigger being when an enemy moves adjacent to him, that he can shift his speed. What exactly does the enemy do after that? Does he: 1) immediately stop, but can move again if he has an action. 2) if it was a move action that...

    Mass Combat.

I doubt it. When you come down to it, Mass Combat focuses on things other than the PC's, which 4e definitely is not about. Basically mass combat comes down to: "whatever the DM wants to happen, then the PC's have their little part, which somehow critically affects the outcome". Kinda like the...

    Castle Amber - your experiences?

I've run this module at least twice and is by far my favorite module of all time. I especially loved the ghostly meal and the brain collector. I'm tempted to run it again in some way.

White Plume Mountain - your experiences?

It's funny. I know I've run this adventure, but I can't remember anything about it. I remember liking it, but that's because I like that type of adventure.

    Multiple effects

I think this is the way I see it too. I just couldn't find it in the rules.

    Multiple effects

You misunderstand me. It's not whether or not you need 1 or two saves to end: 5 ongoing + dazed It's whether or not you need 1 or two saves to end: 1. 5 ongoing (from hit #1) 2. 5 ongoing (from hit #2) or 1. dazed (from hit #1) 2. dazed (from hit #2)

    Multiple effects

Yeah, in this case I see this as two different effects: 1. 5 ongoing 2. 5 ongoing + daze So you would need two saves, but the 5 ongoing would not stack. But what I'm wondering about is: 1. 5 ongoing + daze 2. 5 ongoing + daze.
