Ring of Sustenance and Growing Up

This thread has inspired me to create a villian ;) A wizard's child dies during child birth. The wizard, too busy with his studies and quite uncertain about child raising, creates a magical item to keep the child alive. Perhaps the sentient ring idea. The ring, though, was created out of...

Ring of Sustenance and Growing Up

I think it's odd that you feel your adventuring lives are too dangerous for a nonskilled wetnurse, but is just fine for an infant with a ring of sustanense.

    Massive Subduel?

I like that. Perhaps a critical hit would do normal subdual and the rest as lethal, or you could just have it half and half.

    flight as a skill

What about the concept of movement points, kind of like hit points and mana points. You can spend movement points to improve your skill checks for say running over rough ground, or climbing a sheer surface. How would this work out, or would it even be worth playtesting?

    Racial skills

I agree, rather than saying humans get none, say humans get X amount of skills chosen by the player

Falling damage -- the leaping off a cliff example

I've never really seen this either. I did have an inner-group conflict cause someone to fall once though. The newest addition to the group (a dwarf) said something that offended one of the founding group members (an elf). Not thinking about the fact she was standing right next to the edge of...

    Racial skills

have you considered coming up with completely new skills for racial based skills? In another thread I was asking about flight as a skill, like swim. This could be a racial skill for winged races.

    Detect Magic detects what?

Not trying to jack the thread but one of my players has a question about detect magic. If he laid out all of the loot they found and use detect magic, he could discern which ones were and werent magical so as not to waste identify spells couldn't he?

    flight as a skill

How well do you think it would work if you made flight a skill that worked somewhat like swimming. (This would be for games where flight was the norm, such as arial city style settings.)

Has anyone considered the addition of racial skills? Or do you feel that racial bonuses on skills cover's this fine?

Can someone give me a take on this race?

They appear as average-height humanoids with pale gray, deeply-wrinkled skin. Usually stick-thin, they are known for their physical agility and the strength of their minds. One of their most unusual features is the fact that they are eyeless, using another little-understood sense to detect the...

Would you consider this balanced enough for 0 ECL?

The creatures are dextrous and hearty (bonus to dex and con). Those are the only real reasoning behind my ability scores. The negatives are there to balance it out. The Nefortu are a race of short, winged creatures with hairless, leathery skin ranging from brown to black, and long, pointed...
