Silence - does it give a saving throw...

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rods.htm#metamagicSilent these will come in handy at higher levels. At least, until you and your DM get sick of constantly silencing each other.

Dismissal vs. Dimensional Anchor: which wins?

That's what I took it to meant. Didn't matter. The party killed it.

Is there a spell index online somewhere?

Not much of a risk, since the mailto tag is improperly formed.

Improbabilities of party make-up (an issue of race)

Funny, I just started a campaign with a party that consists of a half-orc barbarian, an elf rogue, and a gnome bard. We were expecting two other players, but they couldn't make it last week so we started without them. Otherwise we'd have a human sorceror and a gnome (look! two of one race!)...

The spell description says "you gain 1d8 temporary hit points and a +2 bonus to Strength for each death caused by this spell"

    consumptive field, greater: br0ken?

I suppose if you don't stack the odds in your favor, it isn't a HORRIBLY broken spell... just kinda broken. I could handicap it with an antilife shell. -sean, who's happy Bad Paper doesn't cheat.

    consumptive field, greater: br0ken?

Well yeah, I wouldn't do that. Still... it could be a bunch of 1st level warriors he's paid to "protect" him... or slaves... it's crazy.

    consumptive field, greater: br0ken?

So I was thinking about spells for my BBEG cleric, who has access to 7th level spells. I happened upon Consumptive Field, Greater in the Spell Compendium. Holy crap! Any 13+ level evil cleric could walk around with a sack full of rats... if he gets into combat, he can first cast this spell and...

    Drinking and gaming?

ooh, I stand corrected! Pernod-Ricard sold Bushmills to DIAGEO in October 2005, the parent company of Guinness.

    Drinking and gaming?

I wonder how your local pub owner would feel if he knew that the same French company owned Bushmills and Jamesons. (edited to add the missing word "owner")

Improved Natural Attack Vs Improved Unarmed Strike

I could write a little javascript for the site that checks for the phrases "improved natural attack" and "monk" and warns the user before posting. That might save us a wee bit.

    Feats for a druid?

If you have int 13, combat expertise might work out well for you, especially if you don't have wild armor.

    Drinking and gaming?

I'm a home brewer, and I always have four beers on tap at my house. So if we play at my house, the pitchers flow freely. Since it's my beer, my guests are usually gracious enough to have at least one. When we play elsewhere, six-packs are always part of the gaming accessories, although not...

My wife and will celebrate the execution of Valentinus by watching last Sunday's episode of Rome.

What do you consider yourself best/worst at?

That's really funny... after reading Bad Paper's summary, I realize that I'm exactly the opposite... which is convenient since we're in two campaigns together. I can't seem to ever keep track of my monsters when I DM. I have little sheets of paper all over the place, and I forget monster...

The Worst and/or Best Player You've Ever Known

awww... bad paper says that I'm a good DM :o Just for that, his character will be the last to die in the upcoming TPK. I second his statement that the lesbian barbarian is the worst I've known. I'm glad that she was thoroughly devoured by a chimera. Bad Paper is probably the best player...

DM's: How many PC's do you kill per campaign?

IMC, the players are around 11th level, and we've already had 11 deaths. One character died 3 times, and now he's a vampire NPC.

    Advantages of good?

Maybe it's just me, but I think neutral clerics should strive to create a balance in their summoning. So for every fiendish dire ape you summon, you should summon a celestial griffon, for example. (edited spelling)

    Wolverine type char

In the 20's Wolverine studied martial arts in Japan. So a couple of levels in monk or samurai wouldn't hurt. Incidentally, the name of the organization he joined was called "Kage Ryu'", which means "Dragon Clan."

Weapons you wished you'd see sometimes.

My cleric uses a quarterstaff. His ranged weapon is... umm.... a wand of searing light. In that same campaign, the fighter alternates between a longsword, battle axe, and kukri; the ranger uses a greatsword when not using her bow.
