Spell Immunity spell? How long has the bodyguard been charmed/dominated - he may have had time enough to come to like your character anyways without the use of your magic (or just take Leadership if he is at least 2 levels lower than you) What do you mean "homebrewed angel"?

    Paladin one-hitting bosses.

He's a 1 trick pony on a horse, what's the problem? Remember there are usually 4 encounters per day, if he gets to rest after every encounter then that's the fault of the DM. Also, his horse is an easyish target, sunder the lance, put up obstacles to keep him from charging (like wall of fire...

Homebrewed PRC for a melee warlock

what type of "magic item" is a contingent spell? Spell Trigger? nope, Spell Completion? nada. This is why I say Warlocks can't use Craft Contingent Spell feat, because the description of the feat specifically says they can make contingent spells they know. The result is a contingent spell...

Homebrewed PRC for a melee warlock

In your interpretation, Warlocks know every spell and can therefore magically take the feat to make them contingent spells, in my interpretation Warlocks do not know any spells to make contingent upon themselves so they can't use the feat. What they can do is make a staff of contingency, and...

Homebrewed PRC for a melee warlock

"You can make contingent any spell that you know." AND "even if he does not know the spells required to make an item" AND "If the check succeeds, the warlock can create the item"- this feat doesn't make a magic item, it literally makes a spell; Warlocks don't know spells, therefore they can't...

Homebrewed PRC for a melee warlock

only issue I have is that a warlock doesn't know any spells, and Craft Contingent Spell isn't a magic item, it's literally a spell effect, so a warlock, by literal reading of the rules, can't use Craft Contingent Spell - he doesn't know any spells.

Here's an example 12th level character using this build; sources used are PHB, PHB2, Complete Arcane, DMG, this class, Skip Williams' suggestion on Practiced Invoker, and Dodge gives a +2 bonus instead of +1. Brandishertestsubject Human; Warlock 6 / Fighter 1 / Brandisher 5 elite monster array...

this thread isn't about comparing theory building with other classes, its about what you think about the homebrew prc I presented and how it will function, not "EG is better, so what's the point?" stuff

Homebrewed PRC for a melee warlock

@Dandu - ok, so long as you restrict your 12th level build to PhB + PhB2 + Complete Arcane (aside from EG from dragon magic) I'll make it up and send it in a PM Jackinthegreen - I came up with my own homebrew set of racial sub levels, gonna post em in a different thread

Homebrewed PRC for a melee warlock

how can a glaivelock (not allowed in game cuz no dragon magic) better than this class worked into a build focusing on warlock, this class, and no more than 2 fighter levels over time? This class gets 4 (5 with speed on a weapon) hideous blow attacks at the end, and each one can get a +5 unnamed...

Homebrewed PRC for a melee warlock

hideous blow is a weapon attack that adds eldritch blast damage, so jack's suggestion would be a special ability that would allow the eldritch blast damage on hideous blow (read as extra damage dice) to get multiplied by the crit I'm leaving dodge in the class prerequisites because it helps the...

Homebrewed PRC for a melee warlock

Special: must single handedly defeat a strong opponent with only melee attacks and hideous blow (leaves "strong" up to the GM) Improved Dodge feat, and the increasing Dodge to a +2 bonus both appeared in Immortal's Handbook: Ascension. The class is about DPR, so it doesn't need a special...

Homebrewed PRC for a melee warlock

Dandu: how about swapping Swipe with Flurry? that would seem to be a bit better for the idea of the class. In my games, Dodge feat grants a +2 dodge bonus instead of +1. And the Improved Dodge feat makes it a +6 (but requires 17 dex) - I included dodge because its a good feat to have if you...

AFC, Spontaneous Domain + Radiant Servant of Pelor

favored souls don't cast domain spells, rather, they have a spells known list, and some of the spells just happen to appear on a domain list. A domain spell is a spell that a cleric casts from his bonus domain spell slot; that's all.
