The game in which I play uses a method where choose to either take 1/2 max (including the .5, which then gets "rounded up" every other level) or to roll, but we keep what we get if we roll badly. I like this method, and have instituted it in games I run. Jason

Thanks, those would normally be great ideas. I've seen Starship Comparisons before, and it is a very cool site, and I own all of the Palladium-produced deckplans for Robotech. Unfortunately, one of the players is a Robotech fanatic, so I am looking for something with a little less baggage...
