There's also a store in Pickerington, which is just outside of Columbus on the E/SE side. I believe its called Armoury Games. I'm not sure if they just carry mini stuff like Warhammer or RPGs as well.
Both Ravenstone and the Guardtower are great stores. If he's looking for a group, he may be...
I'd swear that the 3.5 confirmed changes thread has the bard info in it. The thread has disappeared though, I think. It was stickied for quite a while.
I do know that you'll have to single class a bard to get to the cool abilities now though, as they're based on both perform and class levels...
You also have the option of picking up the HackMaster versions of White Plume (White DOOM Mountain) and Keep (Little Keep.) The amount of expansion done in Little Keep compared to the original is really nice. There's probably enough for at least 6 sessions, probably more if you run shorter ones...
Like the title says, I'm looking for a (just about any at this point) campaign to join in Columbus. Sun-Wed are preferable, though Thu-Sat. afternoons are OK too. I just started a new job and have an odd work schedule so Thu-Sat evenings after around 8pm are out. :/
Feel free to email me at...

BTW, thanks for running this, that's ultra cool of you.
IF the Hackmaster character book is anything to go by, the KoK book is wonderful. It includes spell planning sheets, sheets for your followers/sidekicks, a full-body equipment sheet, and a last will and testament :p
I forgot to mention that due to the fact that PCs will be the targets of crits on a regular basis while their opponents will maybe get one ever, I'm going to give the PCs a 10 HP kicker to help balance things out.
sorry about not posting this yesterday, my ISP sucks.
Example:
Bobby the human fighter, using a battleaxe, attacks an orc with an AC of 17. Bobby has a BAB of +4, and a strength bonus of +3. Total to hit +7.
Bobby rolls a natural 20 on his to hit, for a total of 27. I subtract the orc's AC...
I think that I may switch the formula a bit, and also add to it the amount the attack roll beats the opponents AC by (kind of like the old Player's Option books). This way I can still reward high BABs and give fighter-types the advantage they deserve, while still not being too much math.
So...
Yep. Subtract one from subsequent rolls. This makes a value of '4' on d4 still possible.
Ex:
on a d6 damage roll, I roll a 6. Since I'm playing with penetration damage, I reroll and subtract one from my next roll. I roll a '4' on my next roll. I subtract 1, making it a '3' and adding it to my...
Penetration/exploding dice is an optional (in some games built-in) system in which when a die is rolled at it's maximum value, it's rerolled and you add the value of that second roll minus one. If the highest number is rolled again, reroll and add again, ad infinitum.
This is one reason I think that I'm going to go with the d4/d8/d12 solution for the severity roll. Rolling a d4 for x2 and d8 for x3 gives the x3 weapon a better CHANCE for the crit to be more severe. Twice as severe on average. I'm still tweaking a bit, and i need to look at the HM crit charts...
