D&D General So, how much did/do you use psionics?

For 1E, we tried it, hated it, and then ignored it. For 2E we bought Dark Sun and the Complete Psionics Handbook, and then we quit Dark Sun because it was too integrated in the setting and Psionics were broken. Never played Dark Sun again, though I bought books for lore.

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

I assume their groups? Just like my groups when we realized they didn't work for us?

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

The tone was that it was vital and non-optional and must be accepted. I refuted that, and was clear what I meant even if people were defining words differently.

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

Whatever. Your comment defines "authentic" D&D as psionic. After every time we tried it, we hated it, and we ignored it. Any psionics 2E and older was a hot mess of a burden. It wasn't fundamental, authentic, or vital in any way. It was very easily dropped without breaking anything and therefore...

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

See, I see the mind, the soul, and the body as different things in D&D. Even spirits aren't "souls" in my headcanon.

    D&D 5E (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Cover Reveal

The 2024 books will have surprises that were never playtested. They mentioned the Soulknife in a recent video, and we just got confirmation on the Aasimar (which was likely added instead of the Ardling due to overwhelming feedback from the community. They listened.)

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

But if the fans reeally love their new take on Greyhawk, that could lead to a high-quality hardcover. I would really love to see how they might depict the setting differently than other settings. With color art? Heck yah.

D&D 5E (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

Dude... If the DMG is going to focus on villains for art, maybe we'll get to see a GOOD depiction of Iuz in the DMG? I've never seen any art of Iuz that was compelling.

    D&D 5E (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Cover Reveal

I like the art... but what is the wizard looking at? That's way off the shoulder of the dragon... maybe its mate? Dun Dun DUNNNNNN...

    D&D 5E (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Cover Reveal

Strongheart the Paladin is an established, recognizable named male character that has already been represented in old toys. But you never know!

    D&D 5E (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Cover Reveal

I just think they like the idea of "creature-type-blooded" races. Dragonborn - dragon Goliath - giant Tiefling - fiend Aasimar - celestial Elf - fey Genasi - elemental etc.

D&D 5E (2014) Best Way to Challenge this Sorcadin, without high level spells

I don't like "Skills" impacting opposed checks in combat, like with 2014 grappling rules. It is too easy for numbers get too disparate between PCs and monsters. Whether it is the PCs min-maxing, or just some monsters being unescapable by some PCs due to their own size and specialization, I like...

ToV Tales of the Valiant is out! What do people think?

I was thinking about this. I don't want to flat out negate crits for lots of "hardy" high level monsters. What if "Hardy" worked more like "Uncanny Dodge"? The monster just uses a Legendary Resistance to take half damage from an attack or to succeed on a Saving Throw (which might also be half...

    D&D General 5E, A5E, or ToV?

Some people hang out in the D&D forums saying D&D sucks and [their preferred game] is better, even though there is a forum for their game. shrug

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

It looks that way to me. shrug But I would still let my players play a LU class if they wanted.

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

From Elmore's perspective, he painted a man. That is true. So? Is Elmore pissed and offended about the variant, or just surprised? The article says "WizKids also points out that their depiction of the Red Box Warrior is "purposefully and clearly" presented as a woman." Not that the character...

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

Not all people who say sexist things think they are saying sexist things. It doesn't have to be intentional. I'm not saying he is sexist. But many sexists don't identify as sexists either. The world just has to look at how they say things, and how they handle being challenged when their...
