You can try that the player wanting to aid the main player needs to roll within the other person's roll-5 to aid. If someone is awesome, you sitting there not being awesome won't help much, so no +2 IE, if someone who's doing something rolls a 23, to aid him, you need to get an 18 or higher.

Silly question, how is having a contact that advances the plot a mechanical advantage? To steal an acting term, the show must go on. Do you have the players mill around directionless and bored unless someone has some contact? Or are these contacts discount cards that you have to maintain with...

If the monsters want to win, they just need to withdraw whenever the party starts using daily. Make the encounter long daily doom end and come back later. They have a healing surge, they can heal up 1/4th their hp, more if they are higher tier. This will piss off players though.

Always focus on the leader. Unless there is some horrible cost to do so. If a striker is devastating the opposition, you might focus fire on them, but only if you have ranged attacks, and that only works cause you get one immediate interrupt.

4th ed kinda had that whole "Being a healer doesn't take up all your actions healing" thing going for it when it first came out. With the new pacifist powers being directly better at adding survival and NOT having "also attack" on them, it seems to make it best for the healer to just be a healer...

I've used rules as written and stalker0's.... Both times its more or less spam your best skill, with occasional time-outs if you don't have a best skill that's applicable. Oftentimes, people come with new and contrived reasons to spam their best skill. Is there actually any way to prevent that?
