True 20 - Who here has played it, and what was your experience?

Try it this way around then (to play the devils advocate) Mom: Keep your room clean for a week and we will go to the lake on Saturday. Child: Okay! (Child keeps toys in toybox, books on shelf, etc, but fails to make the bed a couple of times during the week) Mom: Nope, we aren't going to the...

True 20 - Who here has played it, and what was your experience?

I didn't say that I fully agree with it (though I'm not sure I fully disagree with it either). I'm simply saying that its a very common viewpoint (At least among MMORPG's.... I'm not sure about "true" rpg players....)

So, anyone get the Iphone yet?

I've played with one very, very briefly. Good Lord is it sweet.... Thats where Apple has its strength - User Interface. Mind, I AM going to resist the urge until the second generation of the thing hits...... but its in my future.

True 20 - Who here has played it, and what was your experience?

A common view - and one that isn't that bad - is that a carrot system is just a club by a different name. This way of viewing it is that, if you don't do something that the GM approves of, you don't get conviction, as a "punishment". Its a semantics argument really. If you do something the GM...

True 20 - Who here has played it, and what was your experience?

Yes, D&D alignment is highly subjective. I have long arguments with folks about Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly - the guy is a poster child for the Chaotic Good Alignment. The people who disagree stick on the scene where he kicks a bound opponent into, and through, a spacecraft engine, killing him...

True 20 - Who here has played it, and what was your experience?

I would agree with that Flynn, based on my limited play experience. Though - you could, I think, make combat less deadly for the combat heavy games by increasing the amount of conviction that players get. And, I don't get that True20 fans are unusually aggressive fanboys. Jdrakeh does have a...

True 20 - Who here has played it, and what was your experience?

Actually, saying, I ran a "insert genre here" game with it, and it rocked!" is a LOT of substance. That says everything that you need to say right there. People who are looking at T20 tend to be looking for a lighter, more streamlined system than D20, or other systems. That doesn't seem to be...

    Cat-2, Commoners-0

For a serious note.... When dealing with any small wounded or scared animal, grab a nice thick towel. And, cover the animals eyes. Its amazing how much calmer any animal is with its eyes covered. I worked at a vets for a while, plus I've had to free several housepets from animal traps. In a...

    How are you using True20?

I'm using it for a bog standard fantasy campaign, set loosely in the wilderlands. I've got several modules prepped out (D20 modules) for the campaign. Hmm, Must haves? I haven't read the companion yet. The Beastiary is nice, since it does the work of converting the critters for you.

DM Prep Work Leading To Burnout: Help?

D20 prep Well, True20 at least will save prep time. Many characters for it you can prep in your head. Today (the 29th) you can download the core rulebook for free at www.greenronin.com. Take a look at it, the errata, and the free introductory module. So yeah, you save prep. One of those...

    Minor Magic Items

low magic items A small charm to protect you from the attacks of normal insects. This is nice for staying in cheap hotels. Also can have adventuring usages. I once gave one to a beginning pc in one of my games. Another player was making fun of its magic, and teasing the pc about it. Some...

DM Prep Work Leading To Burnout: Help?

My take Now how did I manage a doublepost with a message in between them? Interesting.

DM Prep Work Leading To Burnout: Help?

My take Yeah, I myself gave up on D20 for this reason, but here is what staved it off for a while. (I went to True20 - which has a free download of the PDF rules tomorrow (June 29th) at Greenronin.com. Its really, really, REALLY easy for a D20 player to learn, and GM prep is far, far less)...
