D&D 5E (2014) What is REALLY wrong with the Wizard? (+)

The problem being that "being weak physically" actually matters for only about 5 or so levels, at most. Hell, in 3.5e, the wizards being weak physically stopped mattering around when they learned Color Spray. A 1st level spell.

Planescape 5 New D&D Books Coming in 2023 -- Including Planescape!

This is 1e ya'll are talking about. It's entirely possible they got TPK'd by some slime before they got to that level.

Planescape 5 New D&D Books Coming in 2023 -- Including Planescape!

Furries and D&D players aren't really all that different from each other, when you really think about it. Like, is there really any difference from sitting at a table pretending to be an elf with other people who are pretending to be dwarves/orcs/demon people then sitting at a computer...

D&D 5E (2014) What is REALLY wrong with the Wizard? (+)

Not by RAW, but I've seen plenty of people do it.

I miss when gnolls were crossbreeds of trolls and gnomes because Gygax was drinking about a pint an hour for several days.

D&D 5E (2014) What is REALLY wrong with the Wizard? (+)

What's wrong with the Wizard is honestly extremely simple. Dungeons & Dragons is a game by nerds, for nerds. Because of this, and through subconscious bias, conscious bias, and/or wanting to appeal more to the demographic that are going for, the developers of the game ended up making the...

What's All This About The OGL Going Away?

Now we have at least 3 people talking about it! Soon enough it'll be double digits and WotC will have to put out something!

What's All This About The OGL Going Away?

unless, of course he's being paid off by WotC. People are talking about it now, so that means that WotC needs to put out a statement about it.

D&D General Deities in D&D: Gods as Tulpas versus Gods as Progenitors

More on topic post. I guess I kinda have all of them in my world. The basic history of the mythology was that all the gods of my settings were basically various good and neutral aligned outsiders that looked at the other various material planes, like Toril, Exandria, and the like and decided...

D&D General Deities in D&D: Gods as Tulpas versus Gods as Progenitors

I mean, I'm sold. I'm wondering how the Kaiju and Pokemon inspired by beings in the Greek/Norse/Egyptian mythology interact. Like is Xerneas actually the Eikþyrnir or are they separate creatures? Or am I just thinking too much about it and your thought process was just "It would be cool if I...

    Statement on OGL from WotC

And them not just letting this dumb rumor go the way of the birds says more negative things much more plausibly about the company then whatever the conspiracy people are peddling does.

WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

Not really sad to me. I'm always a fan of jerks getting varying flavors of comeuppance.

D&D General Supposing D&D is gamist, what does that mean?

So, more on topic, I can safely say that D&D is a form of gamist, just as much as it is a form of simulationist and a form of narrative. Anything more than that is above my paygrade. What I also think is that critical discussions of game design should stay far, far, away from forums of this...

D&D General Supposing D&D is gamist, what does that mean?

Well now I just feel dumb for not reading the thread. that'll teach me.

D&D General Supposing D&D is gamist, what does that mean?

Actually, The GNS model does have a name for this type of thing. It's Incoherent, and if you happen to like them you have brain damage Sorry to potentially bring up this chestnut again, but I'm pretty sure the discussion didn't get here and I don't feel like a discussion about using the GNS...

D&D General Your first D&D experiences?

5e game with some people on the internet. Was playing the classing Edgy Drow rogue. During character creation I said, out loud "I'll take (proficiency in) Slight of Hand because I want to steal crap" (harsher words were used but grandma looks on this forum). DM took us to a ruined dwarven city...
