    [ d20statblock.org ] a grammar

First off, I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to do this stuff. The software community needs it. Secondly, that grammer is making my head hurt. As someone who has something at stake in this process (please don't blow up the current standard, I'm using it!), I want to get involved but I...

    [ d20statblock.org ] a grammar

Yes, we do. Here's a real-world example of why: My program, DM's Familiar, can import stat blocks. As long as the stat block follows a standard format, my program can import it. Where might a stat block come from? It might come from software: PCGen, E:Tools, etc. It might come from a human...

    E:Tools and DM's Familiar

A new version of DM's Familiar is available which updates the stat block importing. BAB, Melee BAB, Ranged BAB and XP are now imported. There's an updated XSL sheet for Characters and a brand new XSL sheet for importing Monsters.

I had a fan put one together for DM's Familiar already. You can find it on the DMF webpage, download section. There's a PCGen sheet there as well that does a standard stat block. What's DM's Familiar, chopped liver ;) ? DMF can already do this for PCGen and E:Tools.

Gamers Opinion of PCGen (No Rants)

DM's Familiar is not a character generator - it's a DM's tool to assist in running and organizing his game. Never been a character generator, never will be. In fact, the most recent version now supports the importing of character stat blocks from other programs (I support E:Tools and PCGen...

    RPG Software Supporting eTools Format

The latest version of DM's Familiar now supports the importing of E:Tools stat blocks from to DM's Familiar. Create your PC/NPC with E:Tools, cut & paste it into DMF, and then use DMF to actually run your game. You can find the announcement in this thread...

    E:Tools and DM's Familiar

DM's Familiar can now import E:Tools characters! So use E:Tools to make your PCs and NPCs, import them into DM's Familiar with just a cut & paste, and then use DM's Famailiar to actually run the game. After all, what's the fun in designing an NPC if you don't actually get to bash your PCs with...

    RPG Software Supporting eTools Format

Just some random thoughts on Tablemsith, maybe some of this is already possible: 1) I'd like the output from a result automatically chere was copied to the clipboard. That way, if I need a name for the barkeep, I generate it in TS and then can instantly paste it in whatever I am using to keep...

[ eTools ] stat block output

I have one, created by a fan, that is very very close. A little more tweaking and it will be available on the DMF website. Should be in the next couple days. The PCGen layout is already there.

    RPG Software Supporting eTools Format

That's basically what I did with DMF. The problem you'll discover is that no one does there stat blocks the same as anyone else. You end up with 2 options (A) write a different parser for every source or (B) require the sources to create the stat block the way you want. I went with option (B)...

    RPG Software Supporting eTools Format

Yes! :) DM's Familiar will allow you to import a stat blok from E:Tools! You can make a monster/PC/NPC in E:Tools and import it into DM's Familiar with a Cut & Paste. But not yet. :( The stat block that comes with E:Tools is not laid out the way it needs to be for DM's Familiar. I have a fan...

Who are the other two companies that got grounded??

The "cease & desist" part of the rumor turned out not to be true. I'm thinking that the "3 companies" is not true either.

BaneWarrens sets standard/features for computerized adventures

I suppose I could start a pissing war with Luke for the snide comments but I'm going to try and refrain. My time is better spent programming and improving DM's Familiar rather than responding to such things. I'll let the quality of my software speak for me. If anyone is considering purchasing...

    My review of ETools........long post

I may be splitting hairs here but... TwinRose selling their software, or me selling mine, doesn't mean it's legal. I know Chris at TR feels his program is legal, I feel my program is legal, but until WOTC comes out and says "Yep, XXX is legal and has our blessing" then I don't think we can say...

What software do you use for D&D, and why?

I use DM's Familiar, but, like the other posters, my opinion may be biased since I wrote it. DMF will greatly speed up the pace you can run a game at. The quick feature overview: Combat Board: Greatly speeds combat, rolls initiative, makes attack/damage rolls for you, tracks durations, tracks...

GenCon: Exhibitors Who Will Be There

DM's Familiar will be exhibiting, booth 1141. I'll be there demoing the program, answering questions, and (hopefullly) selling a copy or two. We'll also have a spare laptop so you can test drive the program for yourself.

    Battlemat Generating Software

DungeonCrafter is a tile-based program for creating Dungeons. SHould work for creating normal rooms. I though AutoRealm was tile-based as well?

    Advertising/Marketing for D&D/d20

I'm another little guy looking for a way to get the word out. RoleplayingTips has worked well for me also. It's a little blurb ad, text only, but it hits 10,000+ DMs for a reasonable cost. Banner ad at ENWorld managed to generate a lot of traffic as well for me. Another thing that I hear...
