What software remains to be coded?

I think a lot of the programs are still in their early stages. There is plenty of room for new features and capabilities right now and those are more likely to be addressed then integrating with existing software. I do think some basic integration will take place soon. I know the next thing on...

What D&D related software is out for Macs?

The Electronics Aid page has a bunch of links for Mac programs: http://www.d20reviews.com/Eric/3eelectronic.htm

Easy to use combat map programs?

Check the Electronic Aids page (http://www.d20reviews.com/Eric/3eelectronic.htm) and you'll find some other choices as well: Mapster, D&D Battlefield Services, Dungeon Generator. Luke's opinion of RPM being the best might be a little biased since that's his program. Or he might be right...

    Faster/More Efficient Combat?

If you can use a computer at the table, you might try one of the many excellent DM-assistant programs. I've found they help a great deal. My personal favorite is DM's Familiar . Of course, I might be a little biased since it's mine. Roleplaying Master and Helge's DM screen are others.

    DM's Familiar: Weapons, Adventure Export/Import

A new version of DM's Familiar is available at DM's Familiar Home Page. Give DM's Familiar a try, it will make you a better DM. Changes for this version are: * Weapons: There is a Weapons database that includes all of the SRD weapons. Drag-and-drop a weapon onto the combat board or a monster...

    Is Software next?

Part of the reason for the new ruling is to "protect the IP" (intellectual property). That means the names of things. So yes, I think software that is using IP may well be in trouble at some point (right before MT is released seems to be a likely timing). I won't name names but you can guess who...

    Standardization thoughts...

DM's Familiar has tables in Visual Foxpro format. Will Tablesmith be able to read that format any time soon? No? I don't blame you. :) Actually, I think the Tablesmith format is very good - just a basic, straight-forward text file layout. It would be very easy for me to write a routine that...

    Standardization thoughts...

"Exchange what data?" would be the first question. For my program, DM's Familiar, importing characters/monsters would be the important feature. My thinking is that I will import a stat block in text format. Most programs that create characters are going to be able to create stat blocks (PCGen...

    What applications do you use?

I use DM's Familiar, well, because I wrote it. :) It would be kind a silly if I didn't use something I wrote. It's also pretty darn handy in my baised opinion. WeatherMaster to do weather. Tablesmith for random tables. Jamis Buck Treasure generator for "random" treasure. I say "random"...

    Random Encounter Generators

Don't know what you're basing that on. My copy of Creature Collection clearly says that "All other contents of this book, including the names....are copyrighted". So no third party product can even mention their names without express written permission. They are not part of the Open Gaming...

    Random Encounter Generators

TableSmith - www.mythosa.net Tablesmith lets you make all sorts of random tables. Don't know if they have one with all of the SRD monsters or not but you can make it yourself pretty easily.

    Hiding from Blindsight

There's nothing in the blind-fight feat that says that. It might make sense "logically" but by the rules, no.

    A charmed life?

Intersting question. There seems to be some contradiction. I'd rule that what the Class entry says has precedence. So a Paladin only loses their class abilities when they willingly do something wrong. A charm would not work. There seems to be some wiggle room through for *unwittingly*. What...

    Blade Barrier question

How do they get to dodge a melee attack? Why do they keep their Dex bonus to AC while casting? There's nothing in casting a spell that says you can't move (ignoring again that Blade Barrier is a full round spell so you can't do a move-equivalent while casting that). Casters get to wiggle around...

    Blade Barrier question

Blade Barrier takes 1 full round to cast so you can't ready that action to disrupt a spellcaster. If you had it quickened, I'd say the target gets to save and can move out of the way as the spell describes. If the save succeeds, I'd require the "vigurous motion" concentration check. If the...

    Hiding = invisible?

No, I'd rule they are not invisible. From table 8-8, I'd use the "Defender Surprised" entry. No +2 on attack but they do lose Dex bonus.

    New combat questions

Am I sure? No. Just my opinion. I could be wrong. I read that sentence to mean "Acting in this way"as opposed to taking it literally as the physical action of "moving" which the mobility feat applies to. Consider this follow-up logic: AoOs occur *before* the action that triggers them. The AoO...

    New combat questions

I stand corrected, kindof. Move-Equivalent actions pg121 says you can take a 5' step *with* a move equivalent action if you have moved no actual distance in a round. So for our example of standing up (move equivalent but not actually moving any distance), you can take a 5' step. You could then...

Dispel Magic when it targets a spell

The line about "one object, creature or spell" is the confusion. You can use Dispel Magic against a spell only as that spell is being cast. Once the spell has been successfully cast, you can't Dispel Magic the *spell*, you can only dispel the *effect* of that spell from an object or creature...

    Cleric Question

You left out the important part "prolong their life beyond natural limits, *such as the undead*" I don't see raises and resurrections being against the god. Kelemvor priests try to keep people from dieing (warning of plagues) so I don't see a reason they would want to undo an unnatural death.
