    Klooge and Fantasy Grounds

The big advantage with Klooge is that you have a full character sheet and then all of your dice rolls are based off that character sheet. So you character sheet has an equipment section where you enter your weapon, attack value, and damage value. During the game, you bring up the dice roller and...

    Utilities/software useful for a DM

    >> Though the combat managers would simplify and take less time, my characters are mostly new and the few older consider dice rolling a "fun" part of the game. Combat Managers don't require you to use the dice roller. You can use it but everyone still rolls their own dice (though your benefits...

    Utilities/software useful for a DM

If you've got a laptop at the game table, the most bang for the buck is getting a Combat Management program. There's DM's Familiar (mine), DMGenie, Roleplaying Master, and the GMGen portion of PCGen. Second thing is some way to look up rules at the game table. A good program will let you do...

DM Buddy and other DM helpers

If by "DM Helper" you mean Combat Management programs; there is my program - DM's Familiar, DM Genie, Roleplaying Master, and the GMGen portion of PCGen. Probably others I am forgetting. If you mean Character Generators for making NPCs, advancing and templating monsters; then there is PCGen...

    Polymorph 8HD

So what creatures should an 8th Level wizard consider polymorphing into? I want a offensive creature, defensive creature, a creature for when I need to flee, and a creature that would still let me cast spells (that's 4 different creatures).

    Chaos Creatures

Thanks, gang. I think the Dragon magazine will fit the bill. A couple asides: * Monte Cook's Chaositech: This is actually what I'm working on. It has some high CR Galchutts, but no low to middle CR ones. Trying to get some more. * Dungeon 124 does have the advanced Chaos Beast, too high a CR...

    Chaos Creatures

I'm looking for monsters to populate a chaos plane. There's demons, there's sladdi, but I'm looking for something different. Either a group of monsters from some other monster manual or even a template I can apply to existing creatures. Anybody have suggestions?

    Your electronic RPG tools

I tend to run mostly Dungeon magazine stuff so I don't have much need for character generators. What I do use: For face to face gaming: DM's Familiar (my program): Combat management to track initiative, spell durations, roll hit points, and rolling all the attack/damage. Instant rules lookup...

    Campaign Wiki

I've got one on schtuff: Way easier to maintain than anything else. With some prodding, even the players have contributed a bit. Easy to navigate, instantly updated and always available to the players, wiki's the way to go.

Dynamic (for Laptop Users) Character Sheet ?

    >> So, you're encouraging the distribution of closed content? "Closed content" only has meaning when you're talking abut the Open Game License. Since the Only Sheet is not OGL (no mention of OGL on the website, no OGL included in the download), that term is meaningless. "You're encouraging...

Dynamic (for Laptop Users) Character Sheet ?

DM's Familiar (mine) can handle buff/nerfs but it's a combat manager, not a character generator. I imagine the other combat managers can do it as well, the ones that are character generators/combat managers might do it (DM Genie, Roleplaying Master). Nice feature though.

Does it Exists? A D&D Server for Online RPG

    >> I guess I am looking for a "web" based server, which could handle a non-live game I know there's one Klooge DM that does that. He lives the DM version up and running all the time. The players log-in when they can, make a move if it is there turn, and log-out. You could run klooge as the DM...

    Need a good DM Utility

DM's Familiar has a full Reference Library - Monsters, Spells, Rules, etc. All quickly searchable so you can find stuff. It then has the Codex Tree where you can write your adventure notes, world notes, etc. Items from the Reference Library can be dragged and dropped. During the game you can...

Which is better for tabletop-online? Klooge or Fantasy Grounds?

Oops, you're right. 1 will hide the tree on the left and 2 hides the toolbar at the top. That leaves you with the title & menu bar at the top and the icon and mini-map at the bottom for klooge. The rest of your screen is then the map.

Which is better for tabletop-online? Klooge or Fantasy Grounds?

    >> 1. Ease of learning the system for the DM and players. You shouldn't have to know ANYTHING technical to use a program Good luck with that. The players-side of things is usually easy but the DM is going to have to know his IP address and know a little bit about firewalls if he's running one...

Which is better for tabletop-online? Klooge or Fantasy Grounds?

If you want only a virtual map to play, all of the programs out there will do that - You don't have to use the advanced features. That's certainly true of klooge. While it has all sorts of advanced things available if you want them, you don't have to use any of them. I don't see that as an...

Which is better for tabletop-online? Klooge or Fantasy Grounds?

I thought Skype was limited to 5 people at a time? I'm using Ventrilo, it works fine. For gaming, I'm using Klooge. I was impressed with all of the advanced features it had in comparison to the others. In Klooge, you have a character sheet where you can enter your dice rolls. In game, you...

    -10, Only MOSTLY Dead

Looking for feedback. Raise Dead/Resurrection/etc in D&D causes several problems: * It removes drama from the game: Ah well, Bob died, keep fighting the dragon, we'll get him raised later. It's no longer about life or death, it's about living or suffering some inconvenience. * It interrupts...
