    Flaws for Fun and Profit!

That is a Trait. Flaws are a penalty without a direct benefit, instead granting an extra feat of your choice.

Do you enjoy open-ended campaign settings?

I have never tried to "complete a setting". When I ran games set in FR, I bought the region books so that I wouldn't have to design the regions, allowing me to focus on designing adventures built around my player's characters. I walked away from FR because of the constant Realms-shattering...

    Size of character parties

In 1e, my group was 12 players strong with 16 characters between them. In 2e, my groups averaged between 6 - 8 players each playing one character (no more multiple characters per player for my games :D ). In 3e, my groups average 4-8. I feel that 4 characters is too small, on average, forcing...

House rule: Buy checks, Appraise, Perform

Cool. :D Thanks, I'm going to work this over now and see if is yoink-worthy. :D

House rule: Buy checks, Appraise, Perform

Looks interesting, but I can't comment beyond that without the rest of the system. How the DCs are set, and so forth is an important part of any system like this. Would love to see the full thing.

How do you handle level progression in your D&D games

In 1e, there was a rule in the DM's Guide that was your option C. It sucked. YMMV. I have always done it this way myself. Go to sleep and wake up with a new level. Get on with it, you know? :D

DM's: How many PC's getting raise-dead'/resurrections in your campaigns?

Not in my experience. I have run campaigns for 28 years so far and have yet to have a character brought back. Stingy players, I think. :D

    A Better Soulknife

I don't understand what you think needs to be fixed? The class seems to work fine as is, though full BAB would be nice and since I allow the Soulknife to pick any weapon enhancement within their normal limits (+1, +2, +3, so on).

    Saving Throw issue with DM

The fractional BAB and Save system in UA seems to imply that you only get the +2 bonus at first level of character. It could be read to mean the other way, also. The OP's DM may not realise that it could be read a different way. He should have stated from the beginning that he was using the...

    Hit Points and D&D

But nothing in D&D (core rules) does more than 2d8 damage (and I don't think there is anything that does that much) without a critical multiplier.

How Many PP For The Erudite, And Other Questions

You do not pick the unique powers until you use them. If you use Astral Construct an hour after getting up for the day, it is one of your unique powers for the rest of the day. Once you have used 6 different powers (for a 10th level Erudite), you can only use them until the next day starts.

Question about the Mob (Pitchforks, not Tommy-guns)

A mob of vermin, according to the chart on p. 60 of DMG II, has a BAB of +22. Under Grapple, it says a mob has a +12 from size, so +34 before Str. Grapples are not standard attacks, so no problem, grapple away. :D

    wepon companion

Item Familiar from Unearthed Arcana. I think that may be what you are thinking of. awayfarer, there isn't anything like that in any of the Eberron books that I can find.

If 3.0 Haste were a spell in 3.5, what level would it be?

3.0 Haste granted the caster an extra standard action each round. Thus, you could cast a Quickened spell, a standard spell, and a third spell in the Hasted action. Not what WotC intended, which is why they changed it to give an extra attack each round.

    Torches and Lanterns

A torch sheds good light to 10 feet, not 20 feet. Lanterns burn oil which produces a more intense light than a burning candle or torch. Less flicker caused by wind, also. In my campaigns, Continual Lanterns are more common than Continual Torches. Though most players seem to prefer the bullseye...

    Sci-Fi Channel's "Grendel": Quadruple Crossbow???

It looked like 2 to 4 jagged blades pointing forward. I have seen pictures of crossbows in museums with blades on them. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a scope or a handle. It was one of their better efforts.

    Sci-Fi Channel's "Grendel": Quadruple Crossbow???

Well, I'm not trying to defend the movie (Grendel, that is), but the crossbow only hit twice and one of those was when it's bayonet was jammed into Mama's back. Beowulf cut Grendel's arm off with his sword in the movie, instead of ripping it off. I can see what they may have been trying to do...

    Bards and "Complete Scoundre"

Interesting PrCs: Battle Trickster - 3 levels of skill trick/bonus feat goodness. Cloaked Dancer - 5 levels. Dance specialized with a sudden strike variant. Fortune's Friend - 5 levels for those lucky buggers out there. Magical Trickster - 3 levels. Similar to Battle Trickster but magic based...

    Trimmin da fat

I started playing (Dming actually) with 1e. I prefer having all of these written guidlines. In 1e, most things were done by Dm fiat and it made my job tougher. Having written guidelines that I can point to and say "those are the rules that I am using" makes it easier for me so that I can...

What's the point with Skill Tricks?

There are feats in Complete Scoundrel that do just that. But you have to know two tricks to take them.
