    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

I suspect you'll be able to hit your archetype as well as before, but it could be that you hit the 'archer's delimma' where 4E gives you just as if not better archers as you got in 3X you just can't do it by making a fighter. I was sort of shocked to see Initimidate as a seperate skill, and...

& Sneak Attack: Skills and Proficiencies

Yes, intelligence, as a stat rather than a quality of character, no longer seems to be a priority for theives. But it does seem to be a high priority for Warlords in addition to Wizards. Strength, Dexterity, and Charisma seem to me to be more than enough stats for a class to emphasize. And...

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

No doubt, but I think it goes the other way too where you can't drive yourself crazy with information you know is incomplete. And there are educated guesses to make - like that the extremely specific proficiencies probably make the rest of the classes consistent with the Fighter's emphasis on...

& Sneak Attack: Skills and Proficiencies

Technically, a high dex, high cha, high wis, and low int rogue would still be freaking brilliant. He'd just have a terrible memory, and maybe be not so good at Math and Languages.

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

I'm guessing that the numbers refer to the tiers of powers not the character level, though the tier are probably tied to character level. Of course, it could just be that you get utility powers are even levels and attack powers at odd levels. ----ooooo, beaten to the punch.

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

Well, there are a couple of things we aren't seeing: 1.) We don't know what the additional training feats look like. I'm guessing that we might see something like Feat - Additional Training - if taken at first level gain 1+INT modifier additional skills. Minimum of 1 additional skill. 2.) We...

& Sneak Attack: Skills and Proficiencies

I'm pretty happy about the lack of bonus skills from INT. Note also that not one of the Rogue's skills is Int based. And that some of those skills are 'Knowledge' looking skills. Looks like we're going the Feng Shui route where each (or maybe just some) skill has an active and knowledge...

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

Alternately, Defenders might get powers that let them use their Armor Class instead of, or as a bonus to, other defenses. Remember the bit about how Fighters can use Shields to deflect Area Attacks?

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

It's worth noting that this writeup in fact says nothing at all about level progressions. Except of course that Rogue Attack 1 & 9 and Rogue Utility 2 look like some sort of progression based requirement. A delicious one, that no doubt tastes wonderful with multi-classing. This just looks...

Eric Mona says the GSL is nearly ready

Well, I'd disagree with you about both settings listed above, but what I think I'd really like are either some well done settings in a different genre: Bas Lag Adventures Authurian Stuff Grimm Caliphate Nights Or just new settings in general.

    WotC_Shoe on leaderless parties

I'll be interested to see what the trade off is for the leaderless group regarding faster fights vs. deadlier combat threshold. I think that for my money there should be a different strategic situation for the two parites. I don't really want the encounters to be substantially harder based on...

What happens when the Defender dies?

It shouldn't be necessary in 4e at all. Every class has healing capabilities now. All the leaders do is add functionality.

Breaking News: Kuo-Toa Not Froggy Anymore

What, not Mer-People or Sea Elves? I thought you needed at least one race that can furnish imperilled undersea princesses.

What happens when the Defender dies?

The basic balance they've said they were aiming for is that with a four person party you could drop one role, get two of another, and still be good with both the subtraction and the bonus. The Leader was the specific example - no leader still ok, two leaders not bad. So a party with no...

    D&D 4E Warhammer fantasy 4E D&D - Proposed House Rules?

I don't know, I think one of the attractions of Warhammer is that the fluff + many game systems give you a lot of options about where you want to put the power level. WHFRP is just one way to describe the setting and between it and the miniatures game, blood bowl, and various computer games I...

    D&D 4E Warhammer fantasy 4E D&D - Proposed House Rules?

The thing is: I would love to play a skink or saurus, or even better a skink priest and an Oldblood Saurus as a matched set. The way they describe the psychology of the Lizardmen is just really interesting to me, and I like the way they reverse the tropes of New World vs. Old World where the...

    D&D 4E Warhammer fantasy 4E D&D - Proposed House Rules?

I suppose Dragonborn will make pretty good Lizardmen. Though you'd need to create a skink sub-species. Or just not bother with those sort of exotic elements of the Old World at all.

    D&D 4E Iron Heroes for 4e?

Good deal, and it was a good point. I was just making certain I wasn't missing anything.

    D&D 4E Iron Heroes for 4e?

A Dragon's range on its breath attack isn't an insurmountable obstacle either. They have to get pretty low to strafe you, and your archer will have been building up aim tokens the whole time it's been circling ya.
