    Too many Kickstarters?!?!?!

I agree, I hate having a link to a cool new product be a funded kick starter with no other forms of preordering or marketing. Makes me feel that I missed some bandwagon and its not worth it to even look at after that.

How modern are your modern games?

After watching burn notice, and other modern shows with problem solving. i have come to the conclusion in my modern games that far fetched ideas and problem solving shouldn't be discouraged. But rather the cost should be time. So making a makeshift tracker might be easy but if you only have...

Inventing names is detrimental to my immersion

I have in one game used a Lord Darkbad II. made for an interesting story as his father was the original Darkbad and he was atoning for his father's deeds.

Actually Ill revise what i said before, yes, this might be a d20 dark age, but it is a indie renascence.

Do we live in the d20 Dark Ages?

I have heard this or variations of this for a while and I do have to ask one question. Why is varity a dark age? why must we all be united in a single game to have a golden age? Personally I love the varity, I dont have to force a game to play the way I want i can find at least 1 that's...

    The perils of winter

Snow drifts are also another hazard, while it might snow only 6 inches heacy winds can make it several feet in places as the snow blows and is redistributed. For travel walking in 6" of snow then falling into a 3' low area is quite the hazard.

How do you program interactive character sheets?

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9Mg2qpqlQHWQk9MSVdMRl9hUU0/edit Here is my own sheet, I used a lot of vlookups and data validation to make drop downs that pulled information from other sheets. I also did a lot of calculations on weapon damage dice and the ability to step dice up or down if...

D&D 4E WotC this is something you absolutely cannot screw up in 5E like you screwed up in 4E

I liked 4e's approach, with no basic monsters. Well that's not totally true, different creatures might all have a common trait like shifty or something like that and honestly that might be the way to go. Have an entry in the monster manual with a bit of lore, a few common traits (sort of like...

Using technology for a modern game.

I was prompted by this article in gnome stew to start this thread. I have had some ideas in the past with a modern game i was thinking about running, including using google earth to find real worlds paces for my game. but the idea of using email or maybe even google voice for texting sounded...

D&D 5E (2014) Have you moved on yet? Has Wizard's handled this properly?

Yes, but playtesters, especially those who actually fill out the surveys can be measured. yes, if downloads continue to rise it doenst mean much, but if the number of people providing feedback continues to rise it means something.

D&D 5E (2014) Have you moved on yet? Has Wizard's handled this properly?

Imo, d&d is sort of a unique case. To the extent of my knowledge no other game spans multiple editions with such sweeping changes. Granted my knowledge is a little limited, gurps or traveler might prove me wrong. I feel if each edition was not toted as the next edition of the game and rather...

    Fudging is not your friend

Honestly, I fudge a bit. but it is more of the tactical error kind. if a fight starts turning monsters might get a little stupider, they might take OAs to engage a new target or ignore a baddly wounded PC to attack a fresh one. though I dont think i'd explicitly fudge a win for the PCs...

    Savage Worlds is flippin' awesome.

After finally finishing off my 4e game that we had been playing the last 4 years I was hesitant on starting a new one, we had all decided we were going to go for shorter adventures than one long campaign but they I rediscovered SW. It's perfect for our situation and so easy to run. and CHEAP...
