    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

Exactly, its exactly like splitting up race entries among the classes because elves are mostly rangers but this feature is on page 102 because it might be good for a wizard while this feat is in the fighter entry because it's applicable to mostly fighters but it can be used by everybody. Just...

    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

Kida like my point earlier about default flavor and fluff, as a relatively new player to the game(started in 07). I have the benefit of not coming from a position of nostalgia. Personally, blue electric dragons in a desert? Dont get it. Brown sand tunneling dragons in a desert? Much more...

    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

I still disagree, it goes back to my point earlier about default fluff and flavor. Cool blue dragons are illusionists. But do they always hang out in deserts with dehydrants? No. I think 4es sample encounters also lets some iconic creatures hang out with eachother without mashing up entries...

    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

After reading your document, its better then i thought but its still too much. First of all the kobold allies should be their own entries, under vermin or where ever they would go, their not kobolds and should be referanced by book and page where they are. Same with the traps, i dont mind if...

    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

Alright i might have taken it a bit far. But even then, i dont see how having all the information proposed in a monster manual is not the best method. If the level of detail is indeed presented and you are "winging it" its still alot of information to digest on the fly. Imo, 4e while light on...

    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

this is just getting silly, if your improvising like mad why do you need such information in books? thats not improvising, its prepping while you game.

    Please no monster class levels

Asha'man Personally, I believe that the methods you are proposing especially in a heavy system mastery kind of game all this oversimulation does is arbitrarily hamper a DM's ability to run a game. on the magic fighter NPC example. the only way to do it in the simulationist persepctive is to...

    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

Not to mention a 1-30 adventure path, plus several other publihed adventures and dozens of online adventures. in all honesty there is enough published adventures to last for several campaigns. I dont see why this content needsto be in the core books, where i'd rather have the tool kit for...

    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

Once again im not seeing what the issue is, or im not understanding you. it seems to boil down to some kind of disconnect as to what a MM should have. You seem to think it should be some kind of mini setting book. while i think it should be chock full of monster stats.

    Please no monster class levels

that may be true, but with 4e i can just have a 3x5 card with all the math needed to run any monster i deem fit. dont need to scramble through books or prepare random encounters beforehand.

    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

this comes off and just offensive and ignorant. I play a 4e game and all of those things are a big part of my game.

    D&D 4E Things wrong with 4e: Dragons

I dont understand this at all. the 4e draconomicon's are pretty much dragon monster manuals. full of sample lairs, treasures, dragon rituals, info on all of the dragons, mannerisms, etc. pretty much all of what you are asking.

The dracomonicon books are better for this kind of thing.

and yet, i consider the warlord to be one of the new classics. one of the best contributions of 4e.

    Please no monster class levels

I'd say, that another point is the definition of NPC. using how you seem to be using it, I might say companion character or Henchman. I would definitely generate that character with PC gen rules. Flesh it out and everything. I think i was using NPC in the broadest term, all non player...

Mine as well. HP has never fully been a wound system.

    Please no monster class levels

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then, personally, chargen really only means something at the time of character generation or leveling up. any place between those two points Chargen isnt a part of the game. so at least in my games chargen might take up 1-5% of a total game over the...

    Please no monster class levels

I dont fully understand this post, The reason for having different rules for each side of the game is because they are being played by completely different types of players. I often find this whole arguement interesting, as "playing by the same rules" is often never defined well. Even in 4th...

    Please no monster class levels

I think the issue rather is the NPC/PC divide. i could care less if there are monster class levels or not, but its the mentality that PCs and NPCs should play by the exact same rules that bothers me.
