Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

You do realize that it goes on to define what it means. right? "Martial powers are not magic in the traditional sense, although some martial powers stand well beyond the capabilities of ordinary mortals. Martial characters use their own strength and willpower to vanquish their enemies. Training...

What's the best part of an RPG to sell?

I think having a stripped down core system available for free isn't the worst thing. With out the srd I would really have never looked at pa or 13th age.

D&D 5E (2014) Healing Surges, Hit Dice, Martial Healing, and Overnight recovery: Which ones do you like?

I don't really view them as meta gaming. It's just luck. having the lucky or bad luck hindrances modifies ones luck in that game. Yes, the player decides when the luck kicks in, but it's not really disassociative from the character.

    Using skill based resolution

Well while I agree with you about D&D, this thread really isn't about D&D. And besides old school D&D has a long history of testing the players with puzzles.

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

I don't know... a lot of this advice sounds quite similar to the advice given in threads about how to fix 4e stuff. The basics, strip out what you don't like, your DMing wrong, etc... Perhaps I am just a little biased, but if you could fix the problems I have with PF, then you'd just be giving...

    Using skill based resolution

Perhaps a solution is to not let it totally replace the die roll, but allow it to give a bonus. Like giving a player a puzzle when they start the task and if they complete it by the time their next roll is made they get a bonus.

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

Strip out the offending parts has been offered. But I don't think it's a "fix".

    Using skill based resolution

Most tabletop games use the standard dice or other random based resolution. There are exceptions, Hell for Leather and Dread are some exceptions. The former used dice towers and sliding dice within a circle with out knocking over the tower and the latter uses a Jenga tower. I can see the...

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Item Creation: Which book should contain rules for magic item creation?

I find the sentiment amusing that putting it in the DMG will somehow keep those rules out of players hands...

D&D 5E (2014) Can mundane classes have a resource which powers abilities?

I find it interesting that the mechanics of a game of d20 like probabilities is known to the characters but a game that utilizes fate points, karma, bennie, etc.. suddenly it's not a part of the world. I'd make the argument that games with those mechanics are not less disassociated then some of...

    Reading through the playtest documents...

And I have to say I am impressed, I am liking what I am reading. Usually I stay away from dice pools games, but this one is simple and elegant in its design. The career system is awesome, I love the countdown mechanic (I may adapt it to my savage worlds game to replace or supplement dramatic...

D&D 5E (2014) What's the rush? Has the "here and now" been replaced by the "next level" attitude?

What makes him an overlord? I see no minions or ship. Unless you are going the first pirate's movie jack. The worst pirate you've ever heard of.

D&D 5E (2014) What's the rush? Has the "here and now" been replaced by the "next level" attitude?

Unless the DM is rolling for random events (which is entirely possible), that wagon didn't come from nowhere. the DM put it there, which means that at some level of prep the DM should have accounted for that possibility.

D&D 5E (2014) What's the rush? Has the "here and now" been replaced by the "next level" attitude?

What makes him a pirate lord though? No followers, no ship, just a half rogue half fighter with profession sailor. Sounds like just a sailor.

I do this with all of my physical savage world's books.

    QR codes in books?

Which is wierd. that the inclusion of something so small could turn someone off so quickly. Wait... *takes a look at the dnd forums* nevermind. Personally I would that that if it were unobtrusive and not required it would hopefully not be rejected.

    That's a big assumption.

    QR codes in books?

It also depends on if the linked to content is mobile friendly. If you are linking to downloads then the user needs to share the link back to a desktop or laptop or download then to the device and transfer them from there. On the flip side, having a link to a gallery of art isn't so bad as it...

D&D 5E (2014) What's the rush? Has the "here and now" been replaced by the "next level" attitude?

That's why I love savage world's trappings. All powers are pretty generic and players get to pick the trappings they wish to use.

    QR codes in books?

There is a new technology coming out, though I don't think it's fully developed yet. The Penguin Barcode - Computerphile: http://youtu.be/kW39Mt5kscQ I'd say it might also depend on the genre of book as well. I think I'd rather see qr codes in a cyberpunk game like interface zero rather...
