Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Explores Downtime Activities

I get that and I agree with the ideas, I just see the inconsistency in numbers as problematic. I'd rather see a fixed value for the items, and the buying, selling, and crafting working off of percentages of that number.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Explores Downtime Activities

I've used Downtime quite a bit in some of my campaigns, and I've felt is was lacking. This looks like a really good improvement, and I'll give this a shot the next time downtime comes up. I do wonder about some things that were dropped, like Building a Stronghold and Running a Business (which...

Official D&D Character Sheets Coming In June

I agree that this sort of product seems like a throwback to an earlier age... But the art is cool and a folder might be nice, so I might pick one up (I'm pretty sure I've spent less on 5e products than 12-year-old-me did on Basic D&D back when gas was 80¢ a gal, so I can afford it).

A Few More Tidbits About D&D Beyond From The Developer

Wow, I'm surprised at all the angst over pricing. I figure it'll cost what it costs, and since the price won't be "free", it will be too much for some (like just about everything in life). personally, I'm far more interested in how it works. When we know how useful it is around the table, than...

"Dust" and "Midway" - Codenames for Upcoming D&D Hardcovers

Dark Sun seems likely for Dust, but (and this is probably wishful thinking) it could relate to Eberron's Lords of Dust. Hopefully Midway doesn't mean they feel they are half way to 6E... perhaps something circus-themed?

[UPDATED!] D&D Beyond: An Official D&D Digital Toolset & Character Builder

I really hope this works out, but given past attempts, I'll believe it when I see it. Unfortunately, they start out in the hole because there are so many varying opinions about a) what the product should be and b) how much it should cost. They'll never be able to please everyone. Maybe they can...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Traps Revisited

I'm glad they are doing this. Traps were an area I felt didn't get the right level of attention in the DMG. I just skimmed the document, and I like what I see so far, though I'm disappointed in the lack of XP for traps (at least some guidelines for DMs who want to award XP for non-combat pillars).

New Digital Games Studio announced by the president of Wizards of the Coast

I need another D&D video game like a need another nipple, but digital tools for the tabletop game are always welcome.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Introduces The Artifcer

Overall I am pretty happy with this interpretation. It feels like an Artificer. I think some of the subclass features needs a bit of wordsmithing to clarify how often they can be used. I hope this means we can expect to see Eberron content soon; even simply opening the setting to the DMs Guild...

Tales From The Yawning Portal - 7 Classic Dungeons Updated To 5E!

I'm pretty pleased with this news. I've wanted shorter adventures for a long time, but didn't see how they could fit into the current publishing model they are using. Sure, I'd rather they resurrect Dungeon magazine, but this seems like a good solution. I've run about half these adventures at...

Columbus OH - D&D Group Looking for Players

My group is looking for one or two more to join our D&D 5E group, starting in early November. We are experienced players in our 30s and 40s. We enjoy a good mix of combat and role-play, and typically use miniatures and terrain when we play. We usually play in the Polaris area three Sundays a...

[UPDATED] Looking At Savage Worlds Rifts

I'm looking forward to this one. I played a lot if Rifts back in the day, but I never cared for the Palladium system. One thing I never liked about SW settings is how you need the main rule book as well as the setting book when making a character. Given the changes to the core system, I really...

Kickstarter Savage Rifts on Kickstarter April 26- May 19

Looking forward to this one. I really hope this time the player's guide includes the basic rules instead of forcing you to have multiple books open to create a character.

    D&D 5E (2014) Future 5th Edition books you'd *like* to see?

First and foremost, Eberron campaign setting. After that more monster books, a book of magic items and artifacts, Ravenloft setting.

New Gothic D&D Storyline To Be Announced On Monday

I'm hopeful this is set in Ravenloft and not implying Barovia is a just a county of Cormyr or something (I think the 3.5 Ravenloft adventure had idea for placing Barovia in the major settings). As I recall, they had a survey tag indicated a lot of people were ready to see non-Realms settings...

Sword Coast Legends Survey; Plus Ranger Feedback Results!

The question is, when will we see an updated version of the Ranger? It's been what, five months since the first 5 levels of the Mystic class was released, but they haven't revisited it yet. Maybe the Ranger is higher priority, but I wouldn't expect to see another pass any time soon. A survey...

    Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide

3 out of 5 rating for Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide Nice amount of fluff for those interested in the Forgotten Realms, though I would have preferred more locations and adventure hooks and less emphasis on the gods. The character options are pretty good, though I wish there would have been more...

SCAG Now On FANTASY GROUNDS VTT

I like the idea of a digital tool--I hate flipping through books trying to find a stat block or a spell--but my group plays in person around a table with minis and the like, so we have no need to a VTT. For folks that use it (or Smiteworks) how does FG work as a tool to support in-person play...

New SCAG Info: Someone Got The Book

Last D&D Survey Results In! Plus What's Up With The Ranger?

Since there are so many different ideas about what a ranger should or should not be, I suggested they use subclasses to reflect different styles. One subclass gets a combat pet (maybe others get a non combat pet), one gets spells, and one can get the sprit companion (the least ranger-y to me...
