    D&D 5E (2024) Forgotten Realms Player Guide

While the Realms isn’t my favorite setting (bring on the Eberron!), I’m pretty interested to see how these books turn out. I like the two book approach, and I think giving a handful of areas a more in depth treatment is probably better than just glossing over the entire continent. I wonder...

Project Sigil All the Deets on Project Sigil the D&D 3D Virtual Tabletop

So far it looks pretty great. I don’t hate the module approach, but I’m still curious if the adventures will be available for purchase at some point—like could I get Curse of Strahd, with all the maps (and essentially a Barovia tile set to use as I wish) with every monster from the adventure?

    Request: Sub-Forum for WOTC/Hasbro Post

I certainly agree that the mood around here has turned pretty negative--I know I'm a lot less inclined to engage these days--but I honestly don't know that there's any realistic way to change things. Gaming, like just about every other aspect of modern life, has become extremely polarized and...

D&D 5E (2024) Motley Fool Prediction: New Dungeons & Dragons Edition Won't Help Hasbro Much

I'm about as far from a stock market expert as it gets--I put a chunk of my paycheck in my 401k, check in on it a few times a year, and otherwise forget about it--but I think sites like these are for people looking to invest some money to make a big profit quickly... who aren't savvy enough to...

D&D 5E (2024) Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth? - Languages in 2024

I'd noticed this glaring omission too. The most obvious solutions would have been to remove the +1 to Intelligence and make Linguist an Origin feat. Or just keep Backgrounds with a language, just let it be one of choice. Personally, I would have gone with adding free languages to a few more...

    D&D 5E (2024) So IS it a new edition?

While I really tire of this discussion, I'm lucky enough to have a copy of the PH that my friend picked up from me at Gen Con. So far, while a few of the classes have some substantial updates here and there, I'd say the rules changes look fairly minor to me, a bit less than what they were in the...

Project Sigil Now You Can Watch WotC's 3D VTT 'Project Sigil' In Action!

I'm more or less in the same boat. I have a ton of minis and terrain--easily tens of thousands of dollars of investment over the years--even so, it's never quite enough and it's getting tiresome. I still find myself saying "these kobolds are actually veggepygmies" or "pretend this cavern is...

Project Sigil Project Sigil Updates: D&D's 3d Virtual Tabletop

I’d be shocked if that wasn’t the case. Presumably previous purchases will still get you a discount. Since they removed ala cart purchases, I do wonder if you’ll be able to buy individual items—say I just need a storm giant. Unless they have build your own custom PC pack (perhaps a bundle of...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Obviously, I don't have the book yet, but this doesn't actually sound that bad to me. Sure, it may disrupt the flow in that initial read, but in the countless other times you will reference the rules, I think it's good to have them all in one place. Plus, a lot of times a particular rule might...

D&D 5E (2024) 2025's Ancient Green Dragon Stat Block From The New Monster Manual

I think I like the idea of making Legendary Actions just Reactions. It was a distinction without a difference to account for having more than one. Although, a successful slow spell can really turn the tide now (you know, after getting past Legendary Resistance).

D&D 5E (2024) 2025's Ancient Green Dragon Stat Block From The New Monster Manual

I think the point was that the Lair actions in 2014 were not in the stat block. It very well could be that if we saw more than a page, we would see Lair actions as well, just below the section describing the lair.

D&D 5E (2024) Is anyone going to use the new 2024 backgrounds?

Because I play with a couple of pretty aggressive min maxers, I’ll feel obliged to limit folks to the new backgrounds lest they sneak something by me. Seriously, every story that starts off with “can I play an option from…” seems to end with several other people at the table saying “how they...

Spoilers Star Wars: The Acolyte [Spoilers]

Overall I enjoyed the series. I like the idea of the crystals bleeding, except for the inconstancy in Revenge of the Sith--I suppose they could release a Special Edition version that shows Anakin's saber changing color as he ignites it with the younglings and then remains red for the rest of the...

    D&D 5E (2024) 3,000 Player's Handbooks Available At Gen Con

I haven’t been to Gen Con in 5 or 6 years because it’s always such a madhouse—and getting into anything with the event system is a nightmare—so I can imagine it will be tough to bet a copy. I have 4 friends going, so maybe one might get a copy. Still, part of me regrets not going…

D&D 5E (2014) At what level do your heavy armored characters get their plate mail?

D&D 5E (2024) Green Dragon First Look on Gizmodo

The concept art does the job it’s supposed to (defining proportions, head and wing shape, etc.), I doubt its shows up in the Monster Manual. It’s the pic of the dragon up in the tree that sells it. I love how the tail drapes over the branches like a snake! I can understand the new designs may...

    How halfling society works

Interesting. But why don’t we know more about hobbit economics, politics, and social structure? Given the excruciating detail of the appendices, I would expect to see a complete copy of the Shire’s tax code, in Hobbitish, for the fiscal third age in there!

    D&D 5E (2024) Could we get a Bloomburrow (Redwall) setting for 5.24?

Full disclosure: I have only play Magic a handful of times and regretted it every time--I find watching paint dry on minis way more enjoyable. That said, I have thought some of the MTG settings to be be interesting ideas as far flung corners of the D&D multiverse for a very specific flavor of...

    Origins Experiences

Im sorry to hear about that experience, but I can’t say I’m surprised. I’ve generally found the quality of con GMs to range from terrible to poor with the occasional bright spot. Of the six games I played at Garycon this year, two were hall of shame bad GMs (one muttering as he read not only...
