D&D General Multiple Officially Licensed Dungeons & Dragons Accessories Announced

They don't just wreck the paper? That's a good endorsement of them!

    D&D 5E (2024) Rare Languages

Pretty sure they removed things that felt cultural from the species stats. Though I'd be perfectly fine with Aasimar knowing celestial and Tieflings knowing Abyssal or Infernal; the idea of the outsider kid speaking in tongues is real cool.

    I wrote the Elementalist. =)

    Dragon dealt special damage too.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rare Languages

Druids get Druidic. I'm only gonna use the common/rare language differentiation as a tag to suggest how many people are going to actually know it and be able to speak with you. But next indepth simulationist game I'm gonna do, I'm going to do the following: 1) put some human nation languages...

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

Maybe they put it in the DMG so more people would read it this time.

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

I'm a homebrewer and junior designer. My platonic ideal is for the rules to nip problems in the bud and not force the DM to be the bad guy and say no. Loving this discussion! Thanks everyone. It is making me think back to my "no primary stat" idea pitch. Make attack+damage+DCs a function of...

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

I actually did this in 3E once! Int was for spell attacks and spells known/prepared. Wis was for spell points. Charisma was for spell damage and DCs. Things were on their way towards a classless system.

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

That's a compelling perspective. Fighter kind of has Str/Dex, though, not just Str.

Also it reduces the ubiquitous warlock dips. I'm honestly tired of them unless someone really wants their patron to be part of their story.

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

See, I feel like warlocks being Charisma blurs the line between sorcerers and warlocks, especially now that we have both GOO/Aberrant and Celestial/Divine Soul. Could just flavor one class as power coming from blood or pact, it's all thematigically linked to magical creatures. Warlock vs Wizard...

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

Fair, but I really really really really love when the grid is filled. When 4E made rangers martial, I was miffed but then curious because I thought maybe they'd be the martial controller. And then they weren't and I forever glared at that missing slot (and my missing dragon eevee).

Oooh, high charisma and low int and wisdom? Dangerous mix.

Who is more foolish than someone with High Intelligence and low Wisdom? Heh.

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

That could be interesting. Hexblade/Blackrazor requires Strength to wield the blade, or Constitution to not lose your life to it GOO requires Intelligence to understand the secrets or Wisdom to utilize the madness... I just know if each had 1 stat, there'd be more arguments than if the whole...

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

How cool would it be if the whole "devil on your shoulder" motif was mechanically backed up? Resisting the devil in your ear whispering evil suggestions to you, ignoring the gibbering of the Old One whose phone line you accidentally tapped, and keeping yourself from accidentally agreeing to...

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

Works real well if the flavor is that the reason it's forbidden and dangerous is because it's literally DANGEROUS; that fiendish/aberrant/fey/forbidden magic can hurt you. Bad.

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

A5E's choose it yourself approach is really great for creative players who like to theme things themselves. But yeah, Intelligence just feels right to me. You might be using cheat codes to get your power, but you're cheating time by pursuing occult secrets. It's not that you couldn't do well at...

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

I did consider the solution to my perceived "problem" being Sorcerer to Con and keeping Warlock on it's pseudofullcaster chasis (since I'm ultimately gonna use Spell Points for all when I start up a game with players eager to playtest D&X's... X20... idk). I don't find Con caster to be a...
