    D&D 5E (2024) A take on dual wielding

Certainly! FIGHTING WITH TWO WEAPONS When you take the Attack Action and make an attack with a light weapon in one hand, you can make an additional attack with your other hand and a different weapon as part of the same action. Your off-hand attack does not add your ability modifier to damage...

    D&D 5E (2024) A take on dual wielding

The only reason I like relaxation of having both weapons in hand when you start is throwing builds should be able to draw darts/daggers and throw them with both hands. But I do want TWFing attacks to be made with different hands. I have my own house rules TWFing rules for my games that have...

D&D General Normal Distribution Ability Scores

That's interesting! Now you've got me thinking of a character building mini-game.

D&D 5E (2024) Buffing Int, Wis, and Cha (Mostly Int and Cha)

I'm almost always the DM and I'm a designer, so I'm always thinking about ways to tweak the game.

D&D 5E (2024) Buffing Int, Wis, and Cha (Mostly Int and Cha)

The "boring" is when the same stats keep getting that 8 every single time. The frequency of 8 in Str, Int, and Cha feels like poor design to some of us, and making some targeted improvements may lead to more diverse character options.

D&D General Normal Distribution Ability Scores

Nah, PCs are special. This was more an exercise in seeing what a more normal distribution could be for, and how to switch rolling to d4s

D&D General Normal Distribution Ability Scores

Both! 5d4-2 gets you a good normal distribution for NPC generation, while 7d4(keep 5 highest)-2 would be for PCs.

D&D 5E (2024) Thrown weapon and duelling fighting style.

Well that's another misread for me today. I don't like that.

D&D General Normal Distribution Ability Scores

Hi everybody! I've been fiddling with numbers and probability all day for a project, but as ADHD do I had a brain tangent and followed an idea. I've been using point buy ever since 2001 when one of my players rolled considerably lower stats than everyone else (but good enough to pass under the...

D&D 5E (2024) Thrown weapon and duelling fighting style.

Isn't the longbow heavy and thus needs a high strength to be wielded effectively?

D&D 5E (2024) Buffing Int, Wis, and Cha (Mostly Int and Cha)

I wanted to have Clerics be Cha before. Would make the base 3 casters split evenly between Int, Wis, and Cha. Could put a decision in each caster, actually. Bard: Int (historian) or Cha (performer) Cleric: Wis (monk) or Cha (priest) Druid: Int (witch) or Wis (shaman) Sorcerer: Wis (self) or Cha...

D&D 5E (2024) Saving Thow importance changed. Strength is now a valuable save

Guess my love of snakes showed me which creature I remembered, hahaha!

D&D 5E (2024) Buffing Int, Wis, and Cha (Mostly Int and Cha)

I really like these ideas. That makes me want to use Charisma saves to resist fear and emotion effects, because it's your sense of self

D&D 5E (2024) Saving Thow importance changed. Strength is now a valuable save

I thought the grappling animals we see in the PHB had a save on their constrict attacks.

D&D 5E (2024) Should 2014 Half Elves and Half Orcs be added to the 2025 SRD?

How do the Half-Elf and Half-Orc line up with the Human, Elf, and Orc in 5.24? Orc Speed: 30 feet Adrenaline Rush. You can take the Dash action as a Bonus Action. When you do so, you gain a number of Temporary Hit Points equal to your Proficiency Bonus. You can use this trait a number of times...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predictions for the 2024 DMG?

Should we do a poll? I read it cover to cover when I first got it.

What if each species, class, and background gave a +1, floating between 2 options? You can put a max of +2 in one.

    D&D General Best Hexcrawl Resources?

Hi everybody! I'm wanting to run a hexcrawl for one of my next games. Does anyone have recommendations for good resources? I have Level Up of course, with it's great wilderness exploration encounters, and I've digested a few articles and YouTube videos, but I think it's high time I pick up a...

D&D 5E (2024) Buffing Int, Wis, and Cha (Mostly Int and Cha)

I had a TWFing rogue that used shuriken and daggers back in 3E. The ability to dual wield hand crossbows kind of threw that style out the window.
