How about "Witch" instead of "Warlock"?

Funny, when I hear witch I think Monty Python. :D Howndawg

    Hypothesis about PHBx

I think this idea was bandied about in one of the druid topics. Sounds like a great idea. Howndawg

    Untrained/trained Skills....Noooo!

Jumping in with my two cents worth. One advantage of the trained/untrained system vs the skill point system is it makes the job a heck of a lot easier on the DM. Let's face it, there are some players out there who just cannot deal with the skill point system. Each time they advance a level...

How about "Witch" instead of "Warlock"?

Depends on the conception. If your image of witch is in the neopagan mode, I'd agree with you. But if the witch is more up the hedge wizard line, then arcane would be the way to go. Frankly, I think fey should be a power source and witches should be fey. Howndawg

The 4th edition class list so far

Sigh... If I had my choice of eight I'd nix the warlock and warlord and throw in the barbarian and druid. But alas, to quote The Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want". Howndawg

Cats inside house (2 Cats Dead; 1 Cat Adopted; 1 Raccoon, 1 Possum Relocated)

From a dog lover, may I remind you that dogs ARE smarter than cats. Jack Hannah of the Columbus Zoo says so. :p Howndawg

[FR] Everyone take a deep breath...

Although I've generally liked the Realms, I have not been a big fan of how they've kept mucking it up every few years. There is nothing quite as annoying as buying a new Realms product only to have it outdated by a trilogy released the next year. It would definitely be a plus, however, if they...

What Supplement Monsters Deserve a Promotion to Core?

Add to that list Nilbog, Screaming Devilkin, and Stwinger. Actually, I'd like to see some old classics get the love they deserve. Firbolgs, jermlaine, vegepygmies, mongrelmen, tasloi, yakmen, island giants, zygoms, froghemoths, bullywugs, and aaracockra are a few that come to mind. I also...

The 4th edition class list so far

I think the general consensus, although not confirmed 100% is as follows: Cleric Fighter Paladin Ranger Rogue Warlock Warlord Wizard Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Monk, and Sorcerer will all appear in later supplements. Also mentioned as possibly appearing in later supplements are Swordmage...

    A Gentleperson's Wager: Druids in the PHB1

I just thought of a wild, dopesmoking idea. What if power sources were connected with planes, except for martial and possibly psionic? Arcane power is associated with Elemental Chaos, Divine with the Astral Sea, and two others with the Feywild and the Shadowfell? One could be Fey/nature and...

    When is D&D not D&D?

Frankly, when it comes to fluff, I could care less. In old editions, orcs were pigmen, water weirds looked like snakes, and halflings were hobbits. Now orcs look like cavemen, water weirds look like women, and halflings are kender (barf bag!). Some changes I like, others I don't. Fluff is...

    Is it still D&D?

Ditto on the "people, not rulebooks". I'd much rather play a game I can't stand with people I like than I game I like with people I can't stand. Howndawg

Dear WotC - You suck at names.

Let's face it, for every Tolkien or Burroughs who has a natural knack for naming stuff, there are 100 others who possess the linguistic talent of a wombat. Unfortunately, fantasy fans have to deal with the 100. Get over it, its a dark fact of life, like death and taxes. :D Howndawg

    How powerful should magic be?

Generally, spellcasters should be able to do things that non-spellcasters cannot do, like fly, turn invisible, and kill 1000 goblins at once. Warriors' greatest strength is their endurance and their spontaneity. They don't need to be as well prepared and they last longer. Both of them are...
