I've been having a great time with my Air Genasi archer warlord. He's not pure archer--his at-wills are Paint the Bullseye and Brash Assault--but he's made enough basic attacks with his longbow for me to appreciate getting to use his Strength bonus for them. Party build does make a difference...

Here's another alternative: apply that bonus to the number of healing surges acquired from an extended rest while wearing the ring. So nothing happens (to your surge total) when you put it on; but the next time you are restored to your maximum total, that total is increased.
