D&D 5E (2014) After grabbing a ledge and climbing up, are you also then standing from prone?

I would say the prone condition mainly relates to being forced prone, which would often include being unbalanced, on your back, falling awkwardly etc. Kneeling at the top of a cliff or wall after a climb wouldn't fall into this category. I would not impose additional movement

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

When discussing this earlier in the thread me and davedash were comparing some characters we had played. He had come to the conclusion that sharpshooter overshadows other fighters including the gwf due to its mobility, flexibility and inbuilt bonus to hit. I haven't seen one but it does look...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

Yeah they don't cut it for us. Plane shift is hard to work since you all need to get into circle to cast it which isn't ideal when you need a quick escape when its all got suddenly very wrong. Etherealness doesn't cover enough of the party until 9th level and also doesn't work the outer planes...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

All in all sound about right then. The melee fighter is doing damage and protecting the party so some degree. Your character is built for pure damage and is nicely buffed with a 9th level spell. Would you be anywhere near that good without the spell - probably not - its certainly a good combat...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

I'd add to this and say there are many rounds when a melee fighter does get to attack but not against their desired opponent. Can be difficult to break combat from a mass of lesser enemies and get over to where the action really is. Having said that they are doing the job of keeping those...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

My math is the same as yours, I just didn't add the bless directly :). My point really is though with less than 50% chance to hit, even with advantage you are still likely to miss a few of those shots. If you don't take the sharpshooter penalty you hit more often and might well do as much...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

Single handedly? You had the wizards only 9th level spell cast on you and the cleric must have been casting bless and you casting haste. Unless you are pretty lucky with your wisdom save you are probably frightened and I'd be surprised if the two concentration spells could both survive the...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

Yeah I like the feat, especially the bonus attack. Its just that me character does about 20 damage per hit as it stands. So if I miss an attack it wipes out two of the +10's anyway. And -5 is pretty much going to miss on attack on average. The AC's are high enough at 18-22

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

Hmm, against AC 15 I guess that's true. I haven't seen much with AC 15 though at these levels. We fought a ton of horned devils AC 18, a pit fiend AC 19 and an arch devil (custom - AC 21 I think). Looking at some of the other high level monsters anything up to AC 22 seems to be standard.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition has broken Bounded Accuracy

I'm playing a 20th level character with maxed stats and a +3 weapon. I can state that I do not hit all the time. Using great weapon master is risky unless I get advantage, as one miss usually means less damage and two misses certainly does. In play, at least for us, it doesn't seem a problem

    D&D 5E (2014) The Problem With Gish 2.0

Our group allows that but not as a free action, part of the interaction with your attack. So it doesn't work for shield for us Trouble is once you have cast shield there is generally no reason for the monsters to continue attacking the fighter since he is so hard to hit. Much better to go and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Treantmonk's Guide to Wizards 5e

I wouldn't dismiss the cantrips that grant a save. These are often better than those that need an attack roll as many creatures have poor saves but some have good AC. I would say you need one of each

D&D 5E (2014) Why such little content (books) for Dnd 5e?

There is also a bunch of free stuff on their website under Unearthed Arcana Eberron - additional character options When armies clash - mass combat rules Modifying classes - advice on building custom classes Waterborne adventures - swashbuckling options And several articles under behind the...

D&D 5E (2014) Making My War Cleric more effective

I'd stick with option 1. I played a cleric (life) up to 8th level and remember 5th level being a big level when it came to spells, particularly spirit guardians. A bunch of ancient dwarven spirits bursting from your character to kill your enemies, an all that. Resilience CON is great to hold the...

D&D 5E (2014) Breaking down the Fighter archetypes.

We are comparing fighter builds with each other not with other classes. Champions are better at this stuff than the other fighters. As you say barbarians are great at athletics checks when raging. Monks are better at acrobatics. Rogues are good at all of it generally.

D&D 5E (2014) Breaking down the Fighter archetypes.

There is a little bit more to the champion than just improved criticals. I would say that it makes a difference that rarely that it doesn't really define the character in combat (maybe by 15th level when it increases again) Remarkable athlete can be pretty decent if you make use of it and you...

D&D 5E (2014) How many people start at 20th level?

We have played one campaign to 20th+ level but it has taken nearly 30 years of real time to get there. When we started it we played it every week but in later years it has kind of become our backdrop game which we play 3-4 times a year, while we play much lower level stuff weekly. The characters...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bard Arcane Trickster?

For traps in particular if you take the 8 examples in the dmg, 3 require just wisdom to disarm, 3 require both wisdom and intelligence and 2 require just intelligence. So I'd suggest that rogues should be pretty good in both of those stats if they want to be good trap finders. Of course other...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bard Arcane Trickster?

I dunno. I'd miss search and arcana without a decent intelligence. You would struggle to disarm traps and secret doors. Though not all DM's use investigate it seems

    D&D 5E (2014) So.... hide?

Remember that the Halfling most likely has to deal with the cover that the fighter provides. So their opponent would get +2 AC assuming the Halfling is using the fighter to hide behind and get advantage to their attack . Also the fighter won't be able too move far if they don't want to reveal...
