    D&D 5E (2014) 2016 Feats Review

You cant really say most DMs would be lenient about it when nobody knows how 'most' DMs rule. Our group certainly wouldn't allow dual wielding hand crossbows both for realistic reasons and rule reasons. We also don't allow loading a crossbow when using a shield, casting a somatic spell when your...

    D&D 5E (2014) Longswords

You could argue that for maximum AC (Plate) you need strength, and it also makes stealth redundant. So you can compare acrobatics and sleight of hand to athletics. Athletics is probably the best in combat since it is used for grappling, shoving, climbing and possibly jumping. All in all I think...

D&D 5E (2014) Should short rest be an hour long?

And unless you time it, you possibly can't start the long rest until you have waited for up to 16 hours to begin it. Unless you always go adventuring in the evening

    D&D 5E (2014) 2016 Feats Review

Isn't the point that it doesn't let you dual wield since you can't actually load the things, but it does possibly give you an extra attack anyway, putting it into the same damage range as a standard melee dual wielder (fighter or ranger) for the cost of a feat. Saying that, we don't actually...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2016 Feats Review

Ah, yes. I always thought you needed to use an offhand presuming that the one handed weapon used to trigger it was another weapon. However I still think there is an interpretation that suggests the crossbow needs to be already loaded for bonus action to trigger, rather than loading it during the...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2016 Feats Review

I am interested to see how people interpret the crossbow expert feat when it comes to the bonus attack. Its for an offhand attack right, so do people allow it to be used simply by saying that all of the PCs attacks are with their offhand (whatever that actually means)? Or is it only allowed when...

    D&D 5E (2014) Level 20 How?

We play a 20th level campaign 3-4 weekends a year. It has been converted from several editions over the 30 years we have been playing. So far, I would say 5th edition has held together at this level very well and is providing fun and challenge. A few points... We don't even look at DMG...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Divine Domains

I like these generally I would prefer the Grave domain to get martial weapons rather than heavy armour so they could use a longsword (Kelemvor) or some form of war scythe maybe. I think a few of the spells could altered - not to sure about blight for an undead hunter I'm not sure about the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Longswords

Ah, but we don't minmax so that's not a problem ;) But I do stick to my statement. The biggest damage dealers I have seen are two handed weapon users and the characters wearing full plate have the best AC. Sword and shield or two weapon fighting can take dex or str pretty equally. Obviously...

    Arcana Cleric

Arcane domain clerics can make good use out of the sword burst cantrip. They can risk getting up close with their decent hp and armour. At 8th level they can make effective use of the +wis bonus to cantrip damage on multiple opponents.

D&D 5E (2014) Acererak's Tomb of Horrors is in Chult

Most of those modules and characters weren't originally from Greyhawk anyway. Greyhawk just simply worked at the time (years later) as a place to put those things and help promote TSRs published world. Almost the same process WotC is following now for FR

    D&D 5E (2014) Longswords

We have found that strength based characters end up with a better AC and generally do more damage. A dex based ranged attacker is a nice addition but I'd rather have the knight in armour first.

    D&D 5E (2014) Drizzt' Do Urden

No Yvonnel is still there. Gromph too. The way he writes about some of the characters suggest they are awesomely powerful, almost divine. They are still classed as almost untouchable, just like they were at the beginning. Drizz't is still much the same as he was. He tends to deal with the...

D&D 5E (2014) Spell components. Anyone have a DM actually enforce them?

Its not actually a spell casting focus. In fact its the only way things like Eldritch Knights can cast their spells as they can't use a focus. I also wouldn't say it needs to be held as I assume its on your belt, although the things in it would need to be held during casting so it serves the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Drizzt' Do Urden

I'll add to Prakriti's list and include Yvonnel Baenre (25th 2e) and Jarlaxle (18th 2e). Drizzt has always been listed as mid to high teens level (16th usually) whereas some of the other characters are older and more experienced.

    D&D 5E (2014) Drizzt' Do Urden

I'm not sure he would be 20th level. Maybe 15th -17th? There are other 20th level characters in the books who could best him

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's Other Book(s) / Future Spoilers?

There is a throw away comment in Salvatore's latest book Hero that the lich Acererak can currently be found in Chult, so I would entirely agree with that theory Its looking to me like Tomb of Horrors in Chult is coming soon

    D&D 5E (2014) Rohirric Sword -- Short or Long?

We do this Dagger - finesse, light, thrown, 1d4 Short sword - finesse, light, 1d6 Broad sword - finesse, 1d8 Long sword - versatile, 1d10/1d8 Great sword - heavy, 2d6 The sword in the picture for me would be a broadsword. The name is inaccurate (should be an arming or knightly sword) but it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Longswords

That's not remotely how I build a character but just to go along with it. Now you have two max stats, lets say str and con. Then what? You still have 9 points to spend on stats purely for skill/save use. You saying dex is bottom of the list? Stealth, initiative, dex saves, acrobatics, rope use...

    D&D 5E (2014) Longswords

I am interested to know what secondary stats are those characters focusing on then. Various people in this thread are saying that the dump stat is Int, Cha, Dex (or Str). Isn't the point that you focus on 1 stat and then use the others to round out your character however you want? Wouldn't it...
