    D&D 5E (2014) PvP Class Comparisons

As DM, one adds the template in order to specifically increase damage output against the party. In a party of five, if one PC turns (the barbarian) and drops another immediately via surprise or whatever (the wizard) it's now 3-on-1 vs. 5-on-1. And with multi-attacks vs. single attacks it's...

Not really because the monster is still facing the party and you know it's going to attack.

Which is why multi-attacks can be strong in every edition. It's not about single-swing damage, it's about applying the most damage instances when modifiers are used. Actual "weapon" damage becomes almost moot when modifiers reach around 1/4 of the weapon die if you multi-attack.

It was also the last session of Encounters so there is no "future", which makes it a lot easier. Exactly, so why were were you adventuring together in the first place if you know you can't trust them? Would you trust mercs more than you would actual allies? It works okay for Encounters and...

Do alignments improve the gaming experience?

I'd be happy to. I'm also always on the lookout for new source material.

Do alignments improve the gaming experience?

Bandits have been raiding royal caravans and the ruler has hired the PCs to stop the culprits. There have been guards and retinue killed in the raids. The ruler isn't evil, but he's indifferent to the peasants as his concerns are more "high-level". A village is struggling with a crop failure...

    D&D 5E (2014) PvP Class Comparisons

Close. A good system is designed around the characters working together because otherwise there's no reason to adventure together. The PCs would realize they need the other PCs to succeed long-term. Iow, PvP is a terrible criteria to design around in a cooperative game by definition.

Do alignments improve the gaming experience?

Like I said, you like your games a certain, morally unambiguous way, there's nothing wrong with that. For many of us though we like more nuance/depth/inner conflict. Alignment as a general guideline is great, as an actual moral compass it sucks.

Do alignments improve the gaming experience?

You like your games limited to being morally simplistic. That's fine. However, many of us have been exploring the grey areas for decades in D&D.

Because mature adults don't just try to kill people they disagree with. Adventurers get where they get because of the party working together (and should realize this) in a well-designed system. That means negotiating, manipulation, heck ,even trickery but the short-term gain of killing party...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E imbalance: Don't want to play it

I'm kind of with you. Only one of the fighter options strays from "I duz damage, duuuuuuhhhhh" and it's not yet robust enough for my tastes. We'll see what happens with teh actual released version of the game.

D&D 5E (2014) The Illusion of Experience Points that Everyone Disbelieves

They're simply a form of in-game currency used as an abstract power meter and incentive. I feel much like Ahnehnois does and did away with them.

D&D 5E (2014) 30 speed for all! Halflings, Gnomes, Dwarves were feeling left behind?

Math and statitsical analysis are not your strong points. 49 for 5, 33 for 6 and 25 not caring is nowhere near "twice as many people wanting it". IF this site were a scientific, representative sample then only 46% agree with you, and there's no granularity to discern whether or not they feel...

D&D 5E (2014) 30 speed for all! Halflings, Gnomes, Dwarves were feeling left behind?

I'm a Fighter, I swing an Axe, all I do is swing an axe, but wait, I'm a Wizard now. Well, got tired of being a Wizard, I'll learn to be a Cleric. Clerics are cool. Wow, there's a lot of Cleric-y stuff, I know a couple of heal spells and I can pray really welll now, I think I'll become a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tyranny of Dragons D&D minis

As a couple of others have said, I hope they're more surable than those craptastic Pathfinder minis. I lve minis but when I pick up a few boosters to check them out and 1-in-3 has a broken mini in it my buying is going to be rather limited.

    D&D 4E Reply if you love 4e

I've played everything since the original Red Box and 4E is hands-down the best version of the game yet. I loved my 1E and 2E games, I played 3E, though quit DMing after a few sessions, but 4E brought me back as not only a regular, happy player and DM but also as a purchasing customer.
