    Need help identifying childhood toy

Holy wow, thanks! It was the Hasbro Super Joe Avenger Pursuit Craft. I didn't think it was part of the regular GI Joe line but didn't realize it was affiliated either.

    Need help identifying childhood toy

Apparently my Google-fu is not strong and I'm not overly familiar with classic toy searches and wondering if anyone has insight on an item. Here's teh info I have: It was a modular vehicle for 12" action figures (GI Joe, Johhny West, etc.). It was a cockpit with attachment point for Wheels or...

Is Dr. Who Kid-Friendly? [possible spoilers]

Some people apparently like their corn flakes with pee. It's generally a solid kid show, with blunted violence and sexuality. It doesn't so much avoid them as not call attention to them.

    D&D 5E (2014) I have the DMG!

    1. Shields gave an AC and Reflex bonus, with proficiency. There' were no generic + shields like there was armor though. 2. Pre-3E, AC improvement was DESCENDING not ascending, so the lower, the better. Adding to your AC was not a bonus. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) I have the DMG!

    1. Ummm, it added straight to AC in 4E too and... 2. Who the heck would have worn magic armor in Basic, 1E and 2E? Worst. Magic. Ever.

    Broadchurch vs. Gracepoint

Just wondering how much people enjoy either. I really liked Broadchurch. It had a great feel and the casting and acting was fairly spot-on all the way through. The story and roles seemed very cohesive. I'm having trouble getting in to Gracepoint. The casting/acting is far weaker and the feel...

    [October] What are you watching?

I'm trying to like Gracepoint, it's just like Broadchurch without the style, charm or acting talent.

Doctor Who s8e7 - Kill The Moon

The "science" was tossable, and I'm okay with that, it's not what the episode was about. We had maybe the best line ever in Doctor Who 'Tell me what you knew or I'll slap you so hard you'll regenerate!' This is all about the characters and Clara is getting a lot more spotlight this season...

Doctor Who s8e4: "Listen"; best ep of the year so far!

Finally had a chance to see it, loved the barn bit though have no idea why he was sleeping in a barn as a boy. Danny & Clara have almost no chemistry together. I hope they dump that relationship might quick.

    DOCTOR WHO: "Deep Breath" (SPOILERS)

I liked it, overall. The plot was seemingly a throwaway vessel as a medium for character bits, but that's okay, especially as Moffat probably has a plan to make it more relevent than it initially seemed.

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

When you're making definitive statements about results, yeah, you really do. Otherwise you're engaging in the very behavior that fans the flames of the edition wars.

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Again, you’re using overly-simplistic stereotypes as belief. Personally, I like “getting dirty” with a sword in my hand and up close & personal with the enemy. If your backside is in the fire, as it were, I like to go in and pull you out. I like shaping the battlefield. If I’m the “master of...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Or what's even been admitted on these forums: People don't play the "whole" game. In 1E and 2E, we simply stopped around 10th levelbecause things were really getting borked. Many people admit they only play the game to around 8th level, which is only 1/3 to 1/2 of the regular gaming space...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Again, belief vs. fact (and edition warring to boot). What about all those lapsed players like me who gave up on 3E and returned with 4E? Apparently we don't count? Your post tries to present your own aesthetics as the be-all, end-all factual evidence while showing a clear bias. The fact...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

It was easily an option, but to this point, they botched it completely. They could have simply used the Theme system to add the AEDU powers (or whatever) vs. add-ons like they had set up. We're already seeing that. I find martial characters boring thus far. I lik ethe achtype, but hate the...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Very much so, and it illustrates the power of belief used to ignore facts, which is Marketing 101: It doesn't have to actually be better, you just need to make people believe it is.

    ICV2 Spring RPG Ranking Out

Yeah, on Amazon right now, for example, the 4E PHB is outselling the current Pathfinder rulebooks (and PHB2 over all but one). The fact is, we really don't have a good view of what/how things are selling, regardless of what particular metric edition warriors are touting as "proof". The...
