    What is worth the time?

While it doesn't do generators "out of the box", you can get an add-on for DMF that allows you to use TableSmith tables inside of it. There are TS tables available for all the items mentioned in the first post. DMF/TS add-on: http://www.paladinpgm.com/dmf/purchase.htm TableSmith...

    DVD Burners

My DVD burner is a Lite On and it works great. It was inexpensive and shipped quickly from - of course - newegg.com :)

    Which miniature company?

I'll add another vote for Reaper being the best. Some others that are good: Iron Wind Metals (old Ral Partha) Magnificent Egos Rackham

Song Dragons: What supplement are they in?

When I read the entry on "song dragons" in MoF, I thought they were the updated version of the "steel dragon" (aka "Greyhawk dragon") from 2E, mainly due to their preference of humanity over fellow dragons.

    Scanner Software

Quite possibly, if the scanner is TWAIN-compliant, but I don't know enough about the technical details of scanners to be sure. If you wanted to replace your scanner, you can get a decent flatbed for around $80 or less.

    TableSmith 4.5 Available

I've finally posted the official release of TS 4.5 on the Utilities page of Mythosa.net. It's an update to the existing 4.4 installation (i.e.; if you have 4.4 installed, you only need the 4.5 update; if you don't have TS at all, install 4.4 and then apply the 4.5 update). Changes are...

    Campaign Web Sites

I have a site for my campaign world, Mythosa. The core material is in two PDF files: a gazetteer for the world and a supplement for the religions. I've been putting a variety of other articles together in a sort of monthly PDF e-zine there as well. In addition the site has all the maps I've put...

    Online sources for character names?

There are a number of name generation tables in the Table Gallery at my website. Of course, you need TableSmith to use them :)

    UA in electronic format

You don't have to add anything to open content when you use it, though it's nice when people do. You might be thinking of a provision in the d20 license that says at least 5% of the text of a product must be open content if you want to use the d20 logo (this keeps people from slapping the logo...

Sad day for Milwaukee gamers: Napoleon's is closing (merged)

I never played in the basement, but I dropped a lot of cash at Nappy's when I was in college (Milwaukee School of Engineering). It was a great store. Sad to hear it's closing up.

    PDAs at the game table

The free demo can be downloaded from the bottom of this page; it's the "Get the Demo" button right next to the "Buy it Now" button.

    Which one doesn't suck?

Another vote for Morrowind. I would say "just wandering around and killing stuff" is more attributable to Dungeon Siege, though it's fun. Terrible editor, though (last time I checked, at least).

Have you looked at DicePro? It can do what you're looking for. And a lot more, for that matter. For a dice-roller, it's pretty powerful.

    Web host providers: Your choice?

I've been using Doteasy for a few years now and I have no complaints. I'm using their $7.95/month "UltraHosting" plan right now (1 GB disk space, 20 GB bandwidth, support for PHP, MySQL and some other stuff), but they have a variety of plans, starting at 20 MB disk space w/1 GB bandwidth for...

    DMing from a Laptop

Wow - I never thought I'd see the word "Centura" on ENWorld :) I know what that is because I still have to deal with it at work (legacy apps).

    PDAs at the game table

You might find TableSmith eXpress / Namemaker useful. It comes with tables to generate Angel/Demon Names, Arabic Names, Book Titles, Celtic Names, Dwarf/Norse Names, Elf Names, Fantasy Names, Fantasy Names, Herb Names, Lizardfolk Names, Lovecraftian Names, Orc Names, Orc Tribe Names...

    PDAs at the game table

Up until recently, I've used my Palm (Zire 72) as a DMing aid. I used programs I wrote for keeping track of calendar time and weather, basic PC info, critical hits, name generation (with TableSmith eXpress), and tracking/assigning XP. I'm going to be switching back to a laptop after my next...

Looking for an old PC game...

From what I've read of Oblivion (Elder Scrolls IV), the scope of the setting will be smaller, though just as detailed (if not moreso).

Dragon #290 has three articles covering the "Red Sails" campaign, which is described as "D&D in the Dark Ages of Eastern Europe".
