    Music at the gaming table?

I would love to get back to using music in my games. I used to do it more often, but right now I'm working with a high-energy casual group that hasn't met very often and isn't entirely familiar with the rules, so I almost always have something on my plate as DM. Once running them is a smoother...

    Hand of Radiance too powerful?

I was wondering about this earlier today. I've put together a 12th level Raven-Queen worshipping invoker NPC that can easily create situations where this power is pretty monstrous. (Especially against undead.) I think domain feats, in combination with others and a smart combination of powers...

Dragon Magazine Annual Cover and TOC

As someone who doesn't subscribe to DDI I'm a little disappointed that the first 70 pages are articles that were available free. They all look like pretty good selections though, so I look forward to having them in dead tree format. (Also, just putting this out there, I'm guessing judging by...

[Not Suitable For Work] Build a Tiny Race

What if you just justified a way to give them a 2 damage bonus for each die of damage in an attack with the Weapon keyword, EP? That effectively fixes the discrepancy in most cases, doesn't it? If you wanted to have their damage more on-par with small creatures, make it 1 extra damage per die.

The Plane Below: Secrets of the Elemental Chaos

He's not just writing it from the looks of it. A brief glance at Mouseferatu's site indicate's he's also taking on the position of Lead Designer for this one. =) The fact that he's writing in four major coming releases this year makes me grin. I'd been hoping he'd get more WotC gigs since Heroes...

The Plane Below: Secrets of the Elemental Chaos

To start the ball rolling: "The demons, after all, live in the layers of the Abyss-- the space between the layers is haunted by creatures even the demons fear." - page 78, 4e MotP I'm very interested to see what sort of creatures will be created to fill this role. [if any] :) (Again though...

The Plane Below: Secrets of the Elemental Chaos

Please pardon my ignorance if this book has already been discussed to death elsewhere on the forums, but I'm really, really looking forward to the read. From the Amazon.ca product description: "Fiendish dungeons and elemental battlefields await... A hotbed of adventure opportunities await you...

MtG, D&D and Me TITLE NAME EDIT-The thread where Joe apparently offends everyone

I know from my experience, as a 19 year old who has used and perused material from BECMI to 4e, your comments on the youth of today don't really ring true. At the very least they don't for my group. While many people I've played with do enjoy computer games, and some even card games, the vast...

January 2010 Releases: Underdark, PH Heroes: Dragonborn, Galaxy of Intrigue

You're probably right. It's a sad fact though. I just wish there were more products that bridge the novels and the game material. Personally, noone in my gaming group reads WotC fantasy novels. That said, I know that a lot of people do. When I walk into a large-chain book store the shelving and...

    Primal Power Cover at Amazon

I have to agree. Definitely some of the most satisfying stuff in my 3.5 library. That said, if they ever wind up publishing 4e equivalents, I hope they're much more DM-centric. Frankly, for me the PC material mostly just got in the way. Not that it was bad, just that it felt out of character...

January 2010 Releases: Underdark, PH Heroes: Dragonborn, Galaxy of Intrigue

I touch on that idea in my reply. I think perception is still an important factor in how well customers will receive your price point though, and while I'm sure there are some hardcore gamers that would be willing to pay that for a 32 page book, we're talking about Wizards of the Coast here, and...

January 2010 Releases: Underdark, PH Heroes: Dragonborn, Galaxy of Intrigue

I think I should probably explain why it feels ridiculous that WotC would be charging $9.95 for a 32-page, likely softcover, book. I guess what really irks me is that Wizards of the Coast also publishes the "Practical Guide" series ("A Practical Guide to Monsters", etc.), and with those books...

January 2010 Releases: Underdark, PH Heroes: Dragonborn, Galaxy of Intrigue

An interesting development, but the PHB Races series would have to be really well done for me to want to spend $10 for each. However, if they threw in a nice exclusive miniature of the appropriate race for an extra $2 or so they might have a winner...

Free Keep on the Shadowfell at Wizards.com

I think this is a really, really cool move. The funny thing is, even though I never run published adventures, and had no real desire to pick up a copy of this before now, I think this may actually make me want to. I think it's likely a combination of seeing what the poster maps actually look...

    Arcane Power: Vestige Pact

Perhaps a mix, like Star Pact. The Binder class always claimed to key off of both of them, but to be honest it seemed like Charisma was used far more often than Constitution. I like the idea of feats tied to specific vestiges, but I don't think it'll happen outside of homebrew material. The...

    Arcane Power: Vestige Pact

I had an inkling it might work like that too... but I've definitely got mixed feelings about the idea. I really hope they manage to maintain a certain amount of distinct identity for each of the vestiges, otherwise it may just feel like a bunch of disjointed and thematically disparate powers out...

    Arcane Power: Vestige Pact

There are a number of repaints in the new player-oriented minis line. You'll also notice Aramil, the Bonded Fire Summoner, and Drow Sergeant if you look closely. If you'd like to chat about those, feel free to fork a new thread or look for one of the older ones discussing it. May as well keep...

    Arcane Power: Vestige Pact

Personally, while I loved the concept in 3.5's Tome of Magic and am happy to see it brought back, I worry as to how much flavour they'll lose in conversion, and I doubt they'll bring back the awesome and distinctive page look/art style or the goetic seals for all the vestiges. That said, as long...

    Arcane Power: Vestige Pact

I'm a little surprised I'm not seeing more discussion on this one... is this: NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY The first confirmation that the new Warlock Pact in Arcane Power involves vestiges? (Hover your cursor over Arcane Power and a description of the product revealing the inclusion of the "Vestige...

Any word on the next DnD figures?
