    D&D 5E (2014) Martials v Casters...I still don't *get* it.

Once again, using a DM with their thumb on the scales as justification for game balance being bad - with an extra helping of "martials shouldn't have neat things because that will make the game less fun for casters".

You joke, but it would be awful nice if you could at least cover the mouth of a caster, maybe after grappling and shoving prone. Either that or hold their hands flat (so no somatic) - but not both at the same time. I guess you can apply manacles, although, there are no rules for applying them...

Which does seem to be design intent but it it feels weird, especially since it is hard to know how much particular pillars will be emphasized at particular tables, the vagueness around stuff like perception/investigation, and so on. I'm playing in a game now that was billed as "definitely not...

And most especially does not lead to "therefore it should not be done".

So, the game is as it is, deal with it, and a side order of you can't imagine the game changing or anything new being added. Is that about right?

This is, again, trying to derive an ought from an is. Lit and in-hand? There are modules where you lose all your equipment immediately (OOTA) I concur. I'd also argue there's still room for an arcane-feeling (or eldritch feeling, or both!) half caster. The failure of the paladin, here, is the...

Thus far most of your constructive advice has seemed to boil down to “good DMs can fix this”, which doesn’t really help people who know the system already and are discussing its faults.

Role playing constraints meant as balance for mechanical power was the reason the original (2e) Bladesinger was such laughably overpowered joke. It only works in a tightly constrained setting, which is not what D&D has ever been.

Which isn't a bad idea at all (and true to older editions), but then they borked it all up with resources that refresh at different rates, which means even some "consistent" classes would play very differently at different tables.

We disagree. Being able to close off a corridor with a stone wall in mere minutes is a great deal more narrative control when time is a factor. Again, this is the DM being forced to have their thumb on the scales to prevent casters from having more narrative control than others. It's right...

For the nth time: another, complex martial does not necessitate changing the fighter. Nor did I claim that the fighter should be changed in that post. Fighters, as they exist, are not Go.

As I see the quote, that's still in keeping with it. Wall of Stone does what building a stone wall would do, but much much faster. You could still build a wall the mundane way. This does not mean access to Wall of Stone is not more powerful than access to a mason - quite the contrary, the...

D&D 5E (2014) New Drow cultures coming in Starlight Enclave, the Lorendrow and the Aevendrow

This was very obviously coming. Drow can be interesting without almost the entire race being moustache-twirling Evil. It also moves things closer towards race templates being about culture independent of biology, which is clearly where things will be in 6e.

D&D 5E (2014) Can a hasted bladesinger cast a cantrip with the haste extra action

Natural language reduces precision, unfortunately. Look up one of the many "can devil's sight see through hunger of hadar/shadows of moil" discussions out there, as only one example.

Indeed. It is already pretty clear they don't need to do anything more than they have done, with respect to balance, to sell units. Arguing that because they are already selling units they need not change anything (or that the product is perfect) is the is/ought problem. It is this way, so it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Martials v Casters...I still don't *get* it.

My argument has been that their list of options does not change very much (if at all) throughout their career (and so in the later tiers feels rather short). In the case of the Battlemaster, they are adding options they didn't want the first time. The Rune Knight is possibly an exception to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Martials v Casters...I still don't *get* it.

Well, in a way the Hexblade already sort of does this (short rest slots for smite or for being hard to hit as a technique), but you've got a bunch of re-flavoring to do so eldritch smite and crown of stars feel martial. Well, and utterly replacing the specter - what an awful level 6 feature.
