D&D 5E (2014) What are good ways to create cover?

Perhaps you meant to say minor illusion? If so, I second this.

D&D 5E (2014) What does balance mean to you?

Overall I'm in agreement with the previous posters. If there's a problem, fix it, but make sure you understand the problem first. I've seen "imbalance" mean: 1) Imbalance, in the true sense of the word. 2) Overpowered only (underpowered gets ignored). 2) What a DM says when they personally...

    D&D 5E (2014) Building a better Monk

I find that the mobility feat is so needed with monk for this reason. Otherwise, you almost need to just use a bow for tier 1.

    D&D 5E (2014) Weapons Table

Haven't read all the posts, but in case it hasn't been suggested already... how about weapons with more than one damage type (e.g. slashing or piercing)?

D&D 5E (2014) No love for the hand axe?

Second this. Fundamentally there has been nothing, implied or otherwise, to suggest that the weapons were all intended to be on the same tier. Same is true with spells, and items as well. The fact that a given weapon has a niche use case is good enough.

    D&D 5E (2014) Are you a cat person?

Ever since I've played Morrowind, I've always loved the concept.

Two Questions about the Staff of Swarming Insects

True - it would be better to be a wood elf or have the mobility feat or something as extra insurance. But usually players aren't looking to drop the bugs until after the fight, so there's no harm in just trying again in a different direction at that point.

Two Questions about the Staff of Swarming Insects

Indeed. Probably even worse would be a random gust blowing the bugs away when players don't want them to go away. "HEHEHEHE......oh uh...."

    D&D 5E (2014) High Passive Perception

I'll second the comments about high PP not being a big deal. From a player standpoint, I find that a lot of DM's overrate surprise ambushes. But on the other hand, a PP of 30 will still not see invisible things nor hear things that are magically silent.

Ahh yes. Forgot about that one.

Two Questions about the Staff of Swarming Insects

Another question that you might consider... "Does blindsight see through it?" If it's specifically echolocation, no - since sonar would be blocked in the same way light would. Other forms of blindsight... the buzzing of that many bugs densely packed (hearing). and the scent/pheromones that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Feelings on Ranged Damage

Well I guess there is rogue assassin getting an arrow off with surprise, which can have some dramatic effect. But as others have mentioned, 1-shot KOs at high levels just aren't apart of the game, at least not without introducing some situational mechanic designed specifically to a certain...

    D&D 5E (2014) Feelings on Ranged Damage

Another small one - rangers get proficiency with longbows, rogues do not. A tad more damage, and a lot more range.

    D&D 5E (2014) Feelings on Ranged Damage

So is your issue with the Ranger class, or just ranged combat in general? One part seems to talk about one, but another part seems to talk about the other.

D&D 5E (2014) Warlock in party with Quasit breaking story

I'll second your last point. The number one way I have consistently seen progress come to a frustrating, pedantic crawl is when players can't get enough info about what's going on or what to expect. Unexpected surprises should be the sprinkles on the ice cream in the challenge factor. It doesn't...

    D&D 5E (2014) Spellcaster/Warrior Imbalances Discussion

I think the issue with high-level spellcasting is that it leads to ever-more options to cleverly "solve" the fight without the fight. It's both cool but hard to balance against.

D&D 5E (2014) Why does Invisibility work against undead?

5e is a bit fast and loose on defining things like "vision" "seeing" "blindsight" etc.... Without more precise definitions on the ground floor you're always going to have ambiguous corner cases. It's a trade-off they made to keep the rules simple and leave it to the DM to adjudicate these...

D&D 5E (2014) Do monks get enough Ki?

I should also point out that as level goes up, so do the length of combats. So even though a monk has more ki, he/she is still going to have to use some restraint as to where/how much is used. You definitely can still run out.

D&D 5E (2014) Warlock in party with Quasit breaking story

Note as levels go up the potency of having an invisible scout will diminish. More things will see it, and more things will be such that the familiar can't see or detect. Also, I would say that, from the player perspective, the fun-factor of suspense/unpleasent-surprise tends to be overrated by...
