What Edition of D&D was your First (with fixed Poll)

I played BECM for about a year ('82-'83) before switching to 1E AD&D ('83-'89). I played 2E for about a year (1990) before dropping the hobby through to 2003, when I picked up at 3.5E.

    pls recommend a 1st lvl adventure!(converting 3ed players to od&d!)

I actually would not recommend this one, since it is a mostly empty dungeon meant to be filled in by the DM. Good for nostalgia, but not the best module IMHO. I would agree with your other recs, though. :)

    pls recommend a 1st lvl adventure!(converting 3ed players to od&d!)

Hommlet and the Temple of Elemental Evil make for a great 1E experience. If you want to stick with OD&D, I'd recommend the following from the B modules (listed according to personal taste): The Lost City Night's Dark Terror Rahasia I also like Horror on the Hill, but not everyone does. Here...

Does Wizards want Greyhawk to fail?

It is hard to imagine the announcement of 4th edition not having an effect on sales of 3rd edition material. The timing is unfortunate, since Expedition to the Ruins of Castle Greyhawk was on the market for about a day before the shoe dropped. It does seem ... suspicious.

The best value in gaming is gone...

WotC claims they're going to bundle the month's articles/dungeons together at the end of each month. Maybe they'd be nice enough to sell us print copies of these aggregate articles and adventures. I sure hope so. I love books and magazines. PDFs are nice, but not a reasonable replacement as far...

    Best fluffy 3E books?

From what I've seen, these are aboveboard products with some minor editing issues. I've got the Insidiae and Book of Names, and I like them both a lot. For the rest, it really depends on whether you like the charts in the 1e DMG or AEG's Toolbox. If so, they're a sure bet!

    Necromancer's City of Brass

I wouldn't hold your breath on that. Necro generally puts out very limited print runs for these boxed sets. Worth every penny, though. Maybe the print run thing will change since the union with Paizo.

    Exactly my thinking.

    D&D 4E D&D 4E Presentation videos

Good point! I, for one, am uncomfortable with this business model. I also would rather pay upfront and own the material. I don't want WotC to be (literally) perpetually draining my bank account with more peripheral expenses (minis, tiles, subscriptions to play). Similar to green slime, I'm...

Monthly e-summations of Drag/Dun in print?

Just havin' some pun at Wizards' expense is all ... not that I think they'd mind. WotC themselves admit that the DI is, in part, a response to WoW's horning in on their market. Besides, that was a really good pun! As to me being a grognard ... a 3.5 grognard maybe. I have been playing the one...

Monthly e-summations of Drag/Dun in print?

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but I was wondering about these monthly summations of D&D Insider versions of Dungeon and Dragon Magazines. For those of us who are in still love with the printed magazine editions of Dragon and Dungeon magazines, has WotC considered simply offering...

    Gargantuan Orcus at GenCon

Nice sculpt. I was hoping for the more traditional pot-bellied variety (see my avatar) but I don't have terribly much else to complain about from the look of things. :)

    The big announcement: 4dventure

Hmm ... that's good to know, David. Still, I wish that the bulk of this putatively fabulous online content was available in dead tree form since D&D is, at its heart, a game best played in meatspace, not webspace. Having tools online makes sense I suppose (it would be nice if they could be...

"The game will remain the same! The game will remain the same!" I don't allow laptops at my table. The suck the fun out of the room. Everyone gets distracted by them. My game will remain the same ... without D&D Insider.

    Almost Announcement Time...

Yeah, an ill omen to be sure. They are not instilling confidence in their ability to compete with Blizzard through any l227 programming skillz.

    The big announcement: 4dventure

Ug. This I suppose was inevitable. Neverwinter Nights has been providing this resource for a while now. WotC is simply subsuming this aspect into the core game. It just doesn't feel right, though. It seems impure somehow. EDIT: I think I know why ... I believe the medium is critical. If people...
