AD&D 1E Old Timers: How was D1 supposed to be run/go down?

Possibilities can only be closed off in infinite applied imaginative play if one shuts down the inquiries possible for such expansion, predominantly through strict and unrelenting adherence to more and more rules and the formats attaching to them.

AD&D 1E Old Timers: How was D1 supposed to be run/go down?

The Known of the "Game" vs. the Unknown of "Fantasy" quandary. They meet somewhere in the middle when and where individual DMs state, "This is what it is". OD&D/1E play is an art form in progress whereas 3E onward is that art form pared down to a strict set of circumstances only. Therein lies...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why Don't We Simplify 5e?

Heh. At WotC's GENCON videoed preview of the upcoming 5E posture just prior to unleashing the playtests, Mearls stated that RPGs were about the play, not rules. Within weeks you would find him positing truckloads of Q's online as to what "rules" everyone wanted. Just sayin'.

D&D General What are the "dead settings" of D&D?

Not going to argue too long on fan supported or created material vs. published and supported company material, for my position is as one would describe a discontinued model of car. Yes there are those who still tinker with them, form clubs around them, write histories of them, but they are gone...

D&D General What are the "dead settings" of D&D?

I am afraid that I must regretfully disagree. IMO settings that are no longer actively supported and published by the owner are dead. They are worse off than editions no longer supported and published by WotC because there is no OGL/access point for them. What substitutes for these settings...

TSR Just when you thought it was all over.... now there’s a fourth TSR!

If we create so many narratives of what happened then not a single one of them can be the truth, thus we are absolved of what was that wasn't.

TSR TSR3 Throws In Towel, Rebrands Wonderfilled

Leason is one of his better friends, but LaNassa according to Ernie is the "General". Of course LaNassa was only a boatswain in the Coast Guard, but I'll give it to him, he sure knew how to sink his boat!

By the time they're through they'll have a created a new destructive art form!

As I noted, a lost (probably rejected), MPFC script. Next we'll be hearing "The Devil Made Me Do It!"

LaNassa is not scuttling, the guy fears nothing and has tons of money. Pressure is coming from elsewhere, I suspect from Ernie supported by Leason. The move to rebrand fixes nothing and with everything else makes no sense unless it's an enactment of a lost Monte Python's FC script.

Except he WAS being repressed: "I said shut up!"

It's just more of their David vs. Goliath theater. If they had a communique from WotC/Hasbro they'd have immediately posted it as evidence.

Hubris. It'll get you every time. Combine that with stupidity and they make random acts by rabid animals appear ordered/sane by comparison.

None from Gail; possibly from Hasbro.

They even got the WFD wrong. They obviously meant WDF for "What-a Dumpster Fire" !

    OSR Minimum Requirements for OSR?

Sorry that was your first experience. For the vast majority I know It was not the case, more like excitement and wonder. If course YMMV.
