    Nontraditional Warlord Concepts

I like all of the concepts. I think "House" would be especially good for an Eladrin warlord. I can see them constantly quizzing the defenders about what the best solution to the current tactical "symptoms" might be. I also feel compelled to point out: In 4e, Elan from OOTS is apparently a...

KOTS, Lay hands, other and play.

Well, I would respectfully submit that "important" is a subjective term. Based on what we've seen so far (admittedly, not everything) every class has one or two abilities that powers are based on. The fighter, warlord and paladin abilities we've seen so far mostly attack based on strength, the...

KOTS, Lay hands, other and play.

Yeah, it really makes a Paladin dependent on 3 abilities, while most other characters use 1 or 2. Hopefully there will be a feat that adds to the number of LoH's a paladin has available; useful to every paladin, but more useful for one with a lower Wis bonus.

"I add my strength to my breath." "Your breath is strong?"

For some reason, this caused me to unintentionally use my "drinking water" breath weapon. (Fortunately, I rolled low and missed the computer screen!) :D

    I miss CG

I'm particularly interested in your view of the Boston Tea Party. Are you maintaining that it was Lawful because there was a plan? It was a small group of people who agreed to destroy some tea to protest the tax. It wasn't a large community agreement, and there wasn't a law that said it was...

    I miss CG

I like the idea of trying to cut down on the rigidity of alignment. But if that's what you're shooting for, why bother to keep Lawful Good and Chaotic Evil? Everything else is a variation of Good and Evil, so why not those two? If Lawful Evil is within Evil, why isn't Lawful Good within Good...

    Tidbits from PHB Viewing

I think the half-elf looks good, especially if the "human and elf for feats" is correct. That said, I agree with the earlier posts suggesting it might come up a little short. What seems to be missing is a defensive bonus. Most of the other races either get a bonus to one or more defenses...

D&D 4E 4E PHB Viewing at Games Plus, what we saw

I believe the real question is "How many squares would a shifter shift if a shifter could shift squares?"

Hiding the PHB from players - Cool or Restrictive?

I went with the "Players have rights" (Players of the world unite! An end to the senseless manipulation of the Player-latariat! :D ). However, I do think there is a more "middle of the road" option. Ask the players to come up with character concepts and let you know before the session. That...

    Keep on the Shadowfell preview

Maybe, but I don't think so. Looking at the Tira sheet again, she only had four skills, and Arcana---the automatic skill for the Wizard multiclass feat---wasn't one of them. If she had the feat, she'd get the skill too. Maybe the new Cleric has an extra Cleric ability? We don't know whether...

    Keep on the Shadowfell preview

I looked through the posts again and didn't see this; sorry if I missed it. Can you list the feats the characters have? Thanks again for all of your in-depth reporting!

    Keep on the Shadowfell preview

I'm trying to be helpful here, rather than repetitive, so I apologize if I'm asking for something you've already looked for and not seen. Do the powers list the class like they did on the earlier sheets? I know last time the half-elf Warlock had Ray of Frost and it was identified as a Wizard...

    Keep on the Shadowfell preview

Are the racial benefits made clear, or just incorporated into the sheets in the same way as the earlier preview characters? (I'm particularly interested in what the half-elf multiclass abilities are; does it look like they picked up a cross class power and a cross class "at will as encounter"...

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

Two things: 1) Some of the "starters," particularly the rogue backstab look like they will ramp up from the start; nothing says it isn't subject to the standard damage increase at higher levels. 2) The powers taken with the later feats can be replaced at each level. Granted that requires the...

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

Not necessarily. The HP cost itself will increase (from a net gain to no value) for those classes, yes. That's part of the reason I noted that the costs will all differ. But I don't think we can say whether it's an increase in total cost. For example, before, arcane spellcasters gained the most...

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

All right, slogged through the whole *22* pages. That was a lot of posts, so forgive me if I accidentally repeat a point already made. People seem to want to compare the benefits of earlier editions' and 4e's multiclassing, as well as one of the costs---feats, I don't believe anyone has...

D&D 4E POL Settings in Literature to Base 4e Settings On

Westeros, the setting for George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. There's an ongoing war, but several factions' leaders are dead; most of the armies have retreated from the battlefields and are centered around castles and/or fortified larger cities. Most of the crops have been...

    Green Dragon

Your image link was broken for me, but it inspired me to find a picture elsewhere. I have to say, after seeing it, I get what they were going for, and the cover art is not bad at all. I like it. But the mini? Yeesh. From every angle we've seen so far---between the nose and the mouth and the...
