QuestWorlds is coming—who else is hyped?

One of the things I always liked about this system was that you could make an encounter as short or as extended as you want. An incidental encounter with a band of orcs? One roll to resolve the battle and see the overall outcome for each side. An extended battle that's the culmination of an...

QuestWorlds is coming—who else is hyped?

Licensing agreements are such fascinating reads though! Surely that should have been the name of the game itself. 🙄

What are your preferred modes of play?

Yeah, at some level I like all these things. I guess some more than others, so I voted on "the most" that way. I suppose a top 3 or 5 would help define it a bit more.

Advice on Session 0 and Player Surveys (+)

"What kinds of genres and settings are you guys interested in right now?" I know when we introduced Glorantha, people really got caught up in the magic-is-everywhere and everyone is a representation of their god. It's trying to discover what is really going to hook them in the campaign, but...

What are your preferred modes of play?

World building is valid there too -- it's basically crafting the world itself, as opposed to crafting an iron helm in the world (which would be a pretty silly category). But hey, maybe crafting helms is your thing too. ;)

What are your preferred modes of play?

So what styles of tabletop roleplay do you like? Check as many as you like, and feel free to add more -- if unsure of a category or selection, feel free to add your own definition to elaborate. No wrong answers here, and there can be lots of crossover between all of these. Happy Valentines Day...

D&D Movie/TV Netflix Planning Forgotten Realms D&D TV Show With Stranger Things Producer

The other shows to watch are Fallout and The Last of Us. Fallout had an incredibly great reception on Prime, and it looks like both shows are renewed for season 2 (The Last of Us scheduled for April 2025). I think Netflix in particular is still trying to figure out its series model.

Hot take: get rid of the "balanced party" paradigm

Yeah that was most likely targeted at groups entering a Gencon tournament. The challenges tended to be aimed at different classes so each would have a chance to shine, and the group would need to display teamwork. Probably less necessary for general campaign play but you can see where it comes...

Hot take: get rid of the "balanced party" paradigm

I just looked back at the old AD&D PH and the closest it comes is in the Successful Adventures section on p107. Talks about party cooperation and teamwork, getting the right equipment etc but nothing really about the “right” mix of classes. It does talk about hirelings to shore up party “muscle.”
