D&D Movie/TV D&D: Honor Among Thieves Superbowl Spot

I don't envy the filmmakers that have to try and make D&D work as a movie, especially with so many different ideas of what people want from it and an already embarrassing history of adaptations. I might eat crow on this six weeks from now, but I think it looks really promising and I hope it...

RPG Print News – Legendary Games, Cubicle 7, Mongoose, and More

I was thinking the exact same thing. As cool as it is to see systems like DCC and Mork Borg get so much third-party love, I've long felt C&C has deserved some attention there (to the point where I was mulling over producing a Gongfarmer's Almanac/Crawling Under a Broken Moon-style zine for it)...

    Dragon Reflections #63

M.T. has gotten into the habit of listing the contributing artists at the end of each of these reviews; it looks like this cover is by James Warhola.

D&D Movie/TV Honor Among Thieves preview novel synopsis and cover

io9 presented the cover reveal as an "exclusive" on Monday, so it must have been decreed eligible for release and updated since then.

D&D Movie/TV New Footage & Poster For D&D: Honor Among Thieves Movie

Pretty much every official movie poster from the last fifteen years or so looks like ass. Bad compositing, smoothed faces and distorted bodies plunging directly into the Uncanny Valley, the same old compositions, etc. This poster isn't dissimilar from, say, Spider-Man: No Way Home's, and that...

D&D 5E (2014) Rebalanced Tyranny of Dragons Coming In January

I encountered this scenario as part of the Expeditions/Adventurers League at the time. Our party of 1st-level pregens were sent up to the palisades to defend the city, the dragon bears down on us... and my half-orc fighter just said, "Nope," and headed back down the stairs. I was confused when...

D&D General D&D Official Countdown Gift Calendar

Saw some on sale at a local Barnes and Noble, if you have one near you.

Hasbro Double Downgraded by Bank of America.

Not to take away from the joke, but isn't she "Scout" now?

WotC Dungeons & Dragons Adventurer Is A New UK Magazine To Teach D&D

Yeah, I actually looked them up after I posted. Might be worth taking a flyer on for novelty's sake.

WotC Dungeons & Dragons Adventurer Is A New UK Magazine To Teach D&D

I'd be curious to try this out as well, though as a heathen colonist I am ruled out. Perhaps Diamond/Alliance will pick it up for distribution Stateside, like they did with Eaglemoss. There's this alternate world of UK-only D&D ephemera that I should really check out. Were those "Annuals" any good?

WotC Wizards of the Coast Is Moving -- But Not Far!

All of that sounds like Hell on Earth to me. Except the Luigi part.

    D&D Movie/TV I was surprised WotC didn't announce a movie-related product at Wizards Live -- unless they did ...

I think you may be on to something. Looking at the pre-order listing for the movie tie-in gelatinous cube toy from Hasbro, it's branded as being from the "Golden Archive." Not sure whether this is branding for the Hasbro D&D line of toys, a reference to the movie, or both, but it's a short leap...

Why do you GM for strangers online or at conventions? What do you get out of it?

I don't DM online as I find the format far less enjoyable, but I do DM at conventions (including Gamehole Con; I've probably run into Bill D., above). I'm happy to just be a player in my home campaigns, so I use conventions as my ongoing "DM Academy"--to get more confident and hopefully better...

    GenCon 2022 misc thread

Marcello's good people! Been DM'd by him quite a few times now. Glad to see his work get some love. I might have to sign up to run this mod at my next con now that I know it's one of his.

    D&D Movie/TV Here's The D&D Movie Trailer!

Watching the trailer again, I think you're right. It's most evident in the escape-the-guards scene about a minute in. Plus, it might be my imagination, but I think they pitch-shifted her voice a little.

    D&D Movie/TV Here's The D&D Movie Trailer!

Looks promising; I don't envy the thin line that both the filmmakers and the marketers are going to have to walk with this movie. I hope it works out (for any number of reasons).

Free RPG Day 2022 – The Offerings

This was released as a promo item to coincide with the release of the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms set for Magic: The Gathering last year; it reprints the first chapter of the Essentials Kit. Presumably this was meant to lure some non-RPG-playing Magic players to try D&D out--I grabbed one...

News Digest for the Week of March 11

I'll once again thank you for doing the work in parsing complicated legal proceedings, as so frequently turn up in such an IP-heavy industry. Lord knows I wouldn't have much more than an inkling without having my hand held via these reports.
