    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

Honestly, I'd rule that the Ogre simply wouldn't notice a piddly 1d4+1 damage per round. Ogre's are stupid (Int. 6) and not that perceptive (Only 10 Wis.) I'd say that it takes a hefty amount of damage to get the Ogre's attention. The Fighter will easily be able to show himself as a threat, but...

    Clerics and Modular Spellcasting

Yeah, I always did like that. And the way spells are supposed to scale in power by taking up higher slots instead of automatically has a little Arcana in it, too. I like it, I just wish they'd done the same with the Wizard. I may have to house-rule that in, see how it affects balance.

The 88 Hit Point Ogre in the Room

Keep in mind that this is a quick-and-dirty conversion of an old, old module. I'm sure that, if they had done this from the ground up, they may have put more time into mini-bosses and lieutenants. As it is, though, it's not a big deal. Yeah, there's a big jump... but as soon as somebody hits...

    Sniping, Readying, Ambushing, Lurking

The rules are pretty clear, actually. You have to be heavily obscured or be able to get behind something that covers at least half your body. Your halfling example is right. But halflings get that racial bonus because it's thematic, and because every race gets some pretty useful bonuses...

The 88 Hit Point Ogre in the Room

It's the equivalent of class levels. That HP jump isn't being bigger or tougher, it's the exact same kind of HP jump that your Fighter gets as he levels up; experience, grit, luck and willpower. You don't get to be leader of a savage tribe of goblins or kobolds by being a pushover.

And The Kobolds Dined Well... A Playtest Report

This is one of those times where you, and your players, have to realize that not everybody can solve problems the same way. Sure, the fighter can just leap over the pit... that Cleric, on the other hand... You'll have to rig up a rope down and then up, or find that reinforced ledge to cross, or...

    Long Rest Poll

For those who dislike full healing overnight, might I suggest separating "camping" and "not camping". In order to heal back to full from a long rest, you have to be in a relatively safe, comfortable area, such as a town or city. If you're forced to camp in the wilds, or hole up in a dungeon...

    Sniping, Readying, Ambushing, Lurking

There's already a sniper feat, called "Skulker", that the Rogue gets at 3rd level. Basically, it lets you stay hidden if you miss with a ranged attack while hidden.

    Advantages / Disadvantages

You have obviously never had to perform the "+1 Shuffle". DM: "Ooh, sorry... just missed." Player: "No, wait, I think I have another +1 from something... lemme check my sheet. Am I standing on the table? Didn't somebody Bless me last round?"

    Ability scores figured out.

It was pointed out to me on the WotC boards that the stats still make sense if Hill Dwarves are a +1 Constitution race, not +1 Wisdom. And given that Mountain Dwarves are +1 Strength, that does make much more sense. Changed it. Stonecunning allows them to always retrace their steps in a stone...

    Advantages / Disadvantages

From everything I've heard so far, you seem to be in a very, very small minority.

    Long Rest Poll

I like this idea, but I think it should reduce Hit Dice, not HP. Level three and took a Wound? You've only got two Hit Dice to spend on healing today, not three. Recover one lost Hit Die per Long Rest. That prevents a downward spiral from being too bad... otherwise, taking a few wounds makes it...

The more I look at it, the more I think Giltonio_Santos is right. And I don't think it's that big a deal, either. For one, +1 to everything is only going to have so much effect for the most part. A Wizard, for example, isn't going to get much at all from a slightly higher Strength, and won't get...

No, because they have an 18 Wisdom. So even with +1 to everything, they're still getting an additional +2 to Wisdom. So that'd be an additional +1 from race, and +1 from class.

I thought that for a second, but that seems really powerful. Although, dwarves and elves seem to also have some really useful abilities... I dunno, it could be. That really makes Humans a great option for anything, though. A Human Rogue would be the best skill monkey alive. Actually, I kinda...

Crap, how did I miss that? That is weird, why would that one be off, everything else looks to work just fine. Maybe the Human gets even more than I thought? That'd be a little too much, though... Hmm... if we assume +1 to everything from some unknown source (my money's on a typo or some other...

The 88 Hit Point Ogre in the Room

A party of five adventurers should be able to take a single ogre down in about 3 rounds. What makes it a longer, more dangerous battle is that it really shouldn't be a single ogre.

    Ability scores figured out.

So, it says that we can talk about mechanics, just not quoting specific things. I think I should be okay here, but lemme know if I'm wrong. Okay, so, I sat down for a few minutes to reverse engineer the stats. Looks like they're using the old Elite Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8). Going from...

    Abilities and Hit Points: Thoughts

They are, just not to the degree that they were in older editions. According to the talk, Fighters will actually be the only class that gains attack bonuses by level. It's just not a fast thing: I'm thinking +1 per four levels. And this is good. Advancement comes in choices and abilities, not...

    Compiled possible character sheet errors?

Yeah, I don't think you get more damage for two-handing a weapon, I think that there's just an extra +2 to damage on both of the Fighter's weapons coming from somewhere. I'm thinking maybe somebody accidentally applied the Weapon Focus bonus twice?
