    War Pick; ?d8

I assume that halflings will still have that -4 (-5 if they stick with SWSE 1/2/5/10 progression style) penalty to most Strength-related things. So, really, that covers the whole "they're smaller, so less strong" aspect. Which means that a Strength penalty wouldn't be neccessary, and we could...

    Not-So-Powerful Build? New Race question

-2 Strength doesn't really seem to fit with anything that has Powerful Build. Not a mechanical problem, it just doesn't seem to mesh well with the overall theme. Plus, I remember Frog as one of the better melee guys, so a Strength penalty seems like it would go against that. I don't see a...

    War Pick; ?d8

Just a little detail I noticed in the critical hit article, under the preview stats for the War Pick. There's no listing for how many d8's the War Pick deals in damage, it's just "d8". Now it could be nothing, but still... In my current game, I'm using a different model for proficiencies, using...

    OotS #517 Is Up

MarkB, that "bald guy" is Belkar.

    How do you pronounce Drow?

If I recall correctly (the linguistics guy who told me this is way down south, now, and we've lost contact lately), it's a corruption of the original "trow", and is, in fact, pronounced "oh", as in "throw". That is, the original word is. Everybdoy knows D&D has its own version of things...

    Dice Tubes...

Because you occasionally need to use something with less than a 5% chance of success. And I'm sure there will still be tables with x% of y happening type deals, that aren't solely 5% at a time. You'll always need percentile dice. And even if it weren't detailed directly in the game rules, there...

So... Anybody got a Light, Point of?

Just a basic idea now, but I've been working on converting an E6 campaign idea to a Points of Light 4e basis. The original idea was a world where almost all the gods* had been killed by a group of "adventurers" years ago. The one who killed one of the gods would gain a piece of their...

    Common half-races as 1st-level feats

For the Giant's Blood feat; I've run a humans-only world a few times, and had some background features to mix things up a bit (similar to Iron Heroes). They'd be about equal to a feat each, I think. Mighty Build Prerequisites; Strength 15+, 1st level only Benefits; Whenever you make any check...

    Minis

Thanks for the help, guys. But I don't have enough time to go shopping on the internet; I don't have a home connection, and online time at the library is severely limited. And I just have some irrational aversion to using the "wrong" minis. I'm a very visual person, and it just irks me to no end...

    Minis

Alright, most people (that I've talked to) agree that things are going to be much more mini-centric, especially if Saga is any indication. Which is fine, actually, in my opinion. Minis make battle go much smoother, in my experience, and make things much easier to keep track of. That's not the...

You know what I'd like to see go away?

One of the things I've done in a few of my games is similar to that idea. Everybody can use Combat Expertise and Power Attack for up to 5 points, with the BAB limit still in place and no doubling of the Power Attack for two-handed weapons. The Improved Combat Expertise/Power Attack feats can be...

    What are the biggest threats?

Easy; SWSE's Force Powers. Each power you know can be used once per encounter, and they all have relatively simple effects. This could easily be done with a magic system; there would be more variety, but it could be just as simple overall. I'll admit, Vancian magic isn't that horribly...

    Other SAGAs?

There are two that I know of; an unfinished D&D conversion, and a finished Final Fantasy conversion, based on Ivalice and FF 12. Final Fantasy; http://www.bluwiki.com/go/Finalfantasysaga D&D; http://www.bluwiki.com/go/DnDSaga

Action Point Ideas I would love to see!!

I use the Unearthed Arcana AP, with two major changes. First, you get an AP pool of your Charisma bonus, plus 3, plus 1/2 your level. Your AP recharge at the rate of 1/day, which eliminates the per-level deal, which I've always seen as a problem. Then, I removed the nigh-useless +1d6 mechanic...

D&D 4E Things You'd Like to See in 4e that haven't been mentioned yet

I think there's a difference between "trying to cover too many bases" and "being able to decide which base you want to cover". I like it, and anything that brings in more character options is something I'd love to see.

Rules For SOmething Other Than XP For Magic Item Creation?

In my games, I've implemented the Craft Point rules from Unearthed Arcana, and removed the XP cost entirely. That way, there's still a cost, still limited by your level and whatnot, but it doesn't keep you from gaining levels.

D&D 4E Things You'd Like to See in 4e that haven't been mentioned yet

They have that already. A successful grapple check allows you to drag the guy you're grappling along with you as you move. Or did you mean something else?

    Skills?

I believe it was mentioned in the GenCon video that skills will be at least inspired by SWSE. That's been a pretty popular change, from what I've seen, and I like it a lot myself. I'm not sure what all we do know, though, as I haven't been online much lately. I'm thinking that using the...

    "Flipping" saves to attacks

From what I understand, the SWSE version gives you three defenses, the Fortitude Defense, Reflex Defense, and Will Defense. When you "attack" with a special ability, you roll your attack against the appropriate defense of your target(s). I'm not sure of the exact details, as I don't have the...

    HP-less health mechanic

No, that's my version, actually. I don't know about M&M (heh, M&M's...), but Unearthed Arcana was a little more bland, and didn't have the actual penalties, they just had Hits, which reduced your save vs the damage, and your result either left you fine, disabled, dying or dead. I wanted...
